SPOILERS
You have been warned.

I loved playing FFV for the first 30-35 hours or so, but then they did something rediculous to me. Something that I just can't accept.
They killed off Galuf. This was a major blow to my overall strategy, and basically sent me back to square one for that position in my group. Barts was my jack of all trades (mainly a damage dealer with mixed magic), Lenna is my WHM (with other magic), Faris is mainly a specialty character (Geomancer, Thief etc.), then I had my tank Galuf (basically a berzerker w/ other attack skills).
They took away my tank and replaced it with a little girl named Krile. Now I have a Chemist where I should have a huge tank. This is unacceptable.
I've had to reform my entire startegy because of this. I'm at the 50 hour mark, and I don't even want to look at this game any more.

Can someone tell me:
Does Galuf come back? Also,
Has anyone else stopped playinf FFV because of this?

Why would you stop playing a game if a [major] playable character dies? Did people stop playing FFVII when Aerith died? Also, I believe Galuf does not "come back" truly, but he does make an appeance somewhere after his death...I think. It's been so long since I've played FFV I have no real way of remembering. I didn't stop playing when he died. You've gotten that far already and you want to stop playing? It can be a major blow to your team, but you can always bounce back. Galuf on my team was pretty useless except for his use of black magic. :s

Krile is quite good in her own right... I actually had her focus as a Dragoon and other such jobs. Galuf's death is a "twist." It's supposed to throw you off. Furthermore, Krile inherits all of Galuf's job points and experience, so it's not like you're starting from scratch.

Besides that Krile looked cute those outfits. :D

You doi know your party has to be configured in a certain way for the end of the game, right?

@toxic_jackal: When a main character dies, no, I don't quit playing whichever game I'm on. However, by removing Galuf and replacing him with Krile, the balance of my entire team has been shot. I've never experienced a game (FF or any other) which called for me to make such a drastic change in my strategy.

@MAILER_DAEMON: Yes, I know Galuf's skills were transferred to Krile. But I built him into a killing machine. Krile is way more suited to a magic class, not Berzerker style brawling. She dosen't hit with half the power he used to. I had him trained in all the major combat classes, and no magic.
So because of this, I've had to readjust everyone in my group except for Lenna. In order to get the best out of each of my characters Barts will now have to be a tank, Faris a damage dealer, and Krile can be used for support magic and possibly BLM duties.
That's ALOT of leveling for me to catch up with.
It's just frustrating because my team was unstoppable, I had the perfect formaula going and Galuf was a huge part of the success I was having, if not the biggest part.

I stopped long before that, it was just too irritating to deal with all the battles, I swear it was a battle every 3 or 4 steps :?

^ it gets worse when you go into the final dungeon lol. battles every 4 or 5 steps or so and if your party isn't set up just right then you can kiss it all goodbye. i seriously had to run a LOT in the final dungeons as there were too many high HP monsters and not enough save spots/heal potions to go around (i think i was around level 70 ish) . i never could make it to the boss of the game.

then i think your about 10 years old ritewillxcool

Wow, meaningless post much? Next time you tell someone they're ten years old, at least spell everything in the sentence correctly.

I have not played ffV, but I have had this problem a few times in various games across the years, it really pissed me off too. Once (forgot which game), i essentially built up one character, gave him/.her all the best armour and weapons, and 3/4 of the way through the game, he/she died. At that point, I threw the controller on the ground, and brought the game back the next day :D. I understand what you're going through, but I would recommend playing another 6 hours or so, you may find that you're better off than you think.

cheers

i hope you're not talking to me kiddo. i've demolished every final fantasy except for 5. and probably some older games that'd give you nightmares because of the difficulty.

Um, I beat the game on PS1, and on the GBA version, I have every class mastered except for Necromancer, and that's just because I don't have all of the Dark Arts yet. I've also beaten Omega Mk. 2 and Neo-Shinryu.
