Final Fantasy 7 remake: "It's happening"

So apparantly to this inside source in Square Enix, it is happening. Don't take my word on it. It might be still a long ways away and it might not even happen or be canceled. But we might have something to look forward to

Recently industry insider Verendus, that is known to have very strong connections within the Japanese gaming industry, posted on NeoGAF mentioning that the project is happening:

It’s happening. He’s obviously not going to give any indication as such though so it hardly matters until they’re ready to announce something. His comments make sense. It’s a huge project that will take a lot of effort, and demand a lot from him personally, in order to ensure the end result is something satisfactory.

Do people still want this? I feel like interest for this remake peaked a few years ago. And now to wait another few years until it's done?

Probably, given how people keep bringing up the idea of an FF7 remake. At this point, I'd like to see it happen if only to finally bring an end to the debating.

I'd love to see a FF7 remake. One game that's aged so poorly visually that it really takes away from the experience. I can't stand the block heads/hands. Ugh.

FF VII remake on PS4 would be pretty sick.. I know tons of people hate it but FFVII was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played and I love it so deal with it.

The way SE is now they would ruin the game it was already emo they will take to a whole new level. I would rather see a remake of the Chrono series and Final Fantasy VI

Sometimes I like to throw a piece of bread near an ant hive just to see the ants going apeshit over it. Apparently so does Square Enix.

I won't lie,even though i think ff7 is grossly overrated(still a great game though) i would so buy a proper remake on the ps4.

This is probably the wrong place to say this, but did anyone else understand the story? I mean without having reading synopses.

So they swallowed all other small jrpg studios as Enix and what not to make more final fantasies? Remake final fantasies I mean..meh

While it may not be my most favourite Final Fantasy I did find it to be a great game which I enjoyed a lot. I won't exactly petition them to do a remake of the game but if one does come out I will most certainly buy it.

I don't think this game will translate well if its core mechanics remains ancient.

Never got into FF7. I tried multiple times to play it and become engaged with it, but I just don't really care for the game. Perhaps updated graphics and smoother gameplay would entice me to try it one more time, but I could care less if the remake happens or not.

i mean if Square Enix loves cash then they should remake FF7.. seems like a no-brainer to me

Honestly, They shouldn't make these remakes for next gen unless they're prepared to pour a LOT of work into it. I'd pick PS Vita or maybe even PS3. Sell units and make an old complaint die. With serious(as in totally remade) FF remakes on those consoles alongside a price cut for the Vita, the little system could take this portable console war by storm.

That's exactly how I feel. Proof or it didn't happen.

If they make it I'll buy it. I'd personally rather have a FFVIII remake. But hey, they're already remastering my favorite game in the series so I can't complain. :)
