Final Fantasy's future

Final Fantasy is my favorite series of all time buy like many, I'm not especially keen on the direction the game is going in. I wonder if FF will trace it's roots? What do you think? Are we FF fans doomed to never see a great FF game again? I think square is too concerned about brininging in new players to the series that they don't care about the fans who have been there for so long. I'm not sure we'll ever see a great FF title again.

Every Final Fantasy game after X in my opinion have been awful. It annoys me that Square-Enix are milking FFXIII for what its worth too, as it was the worst in the series. XV looks like it'll be more hack 'n' slash than RPG, so I fully expect that to be awful as well. I personally think Square-Enix should either take Final Fantasy back to it's roots or just lay the franchise to rest once and for all. I'd much prefer the former.

I dont know, Square Enix is in alot better shape to make HD games right now than they were at the begining of last gen where they couldnt even build a proper engine.

I really hope they can get XV out in 2015, and have XVI out within 2 years after that (Preferably with Ito directing). But i dont have much faith in the businessmem that lead Square Enix.

It would'nt even take that much to make Final Fantasy great again. All I need is a battle system that I can actually control a classic JRPG save the world story and heartfelt and intersting characters with some great music behind it all.

Oh as it turns out it can.

I've been a fan of Final Fantasy games since the beginning, and I have to say that I agree that I am not to pleased with the direction the franchise is heading. XIII was garbage, and I can't stand that they keep trying to build off of it, thank god Lightning Returns will be the last. While XV looks like an improvement, I also agree that it doesn't look like it has that Final Fantasy feel to it that got me to love the series and the characters years ago, as one of you stated above, it looks more lime an action based hack n' slash than an RPG. I feel Square has forgotten about the loyal fans to the series and sacrificed them in order to appeal to the mainstream casual audience. Hopefully one day they will return to what once made them great.

FFX is my favourite game of all time. FF12 is also one of my favourites. but after this gen, i can honestly say i'm not really anticipating the next FF game at all. it really seems as if square has lost its quality

Ya, FF 10-2 on have sucked giant goat nuts. 

I can honestly say without a shred of doubt in my mind that I dont care about FF anymore, and I havent for a very long time.

It is a horrible series of games now that only care about spectacle and have 0 substance.

Hopefully it has no future! its so funny that even series fans are seeing the light and turning against the series now!
