^Don't listen to that guy. Â Both play very similarly, but I'd go with Advance Wars. Â I've only played one Fire Emblem game so I don't have too much to compare to for that, but based off of what I played, it seems like there's more content in Advance Wars and you can always reproduce units where as in Fire Emblem your people die permanently. Â Plus, I like its gameplay slightly better than Fire Emblem.
I have only played one game from either series, Advance Wars 2 and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. While I loved Advace Wars, I thought Fire Emblem beat it pretty much across the board. The story is better in Fire Emblem and I thought the Advace Wars characters and overall tone of the game to be a little annoying, to be honest. I also like the attatchment you get to your characters by getting to level them up in Fire Emblem and I also found it was easier to keep track of the various characters strenghths and weaknesses in battle, which made the strategy more engaging to me. I'd recommend trying both but if I had to chose, I'd pick Fire Emblem.
Go with Fire Emblem. It's a strong series and usually features some decent storylines. Advance Wars did nothing for me and I've only played one.
