So what do you do?
I smell the booklet. I don't know why but that smell is just amazing. Like the new car smell of video games. Anyone else do this?

Oh yes, I smell the booklet, and then rub the CD all over my body, but only after crushing the case to a powder and snorting it.So what do you do?

I usually never touch the instructions (not since the intervention, anyway). I just pop the game into the console.
I used to read the manuals, but I think I started to get tired of doing that sometime during the PS2 era. When I bought my DS Lite, I read the instructions for most of those games until I reached a point where a lot of the games I was getting weren't that good anymore, and it wasn't worth reading the booklets anymore.
I don't really touch the booklets for my XBox 360 games, I mean if a game has to tell me something I don't already know then that's what tutorials and in-game guides are for.
Getting back to the original question, I don't always play a new game right away when I buy it. If it is a game I am really excited about and I'm in the mood to play it, I play it, but if it's a game I have to be in the mood to play, it just goes on my game rack and stays there till I decide to play it.
I think anymore the first thing I do when I buy a game from Gamestop is check to see if the case is broken - they like to give me games with brokencases a lot, I notice.
I pop out the disc and make sure theres no scratches on it. I'll take a quick glimpse of the manual afterward just for the sake of it...I dont read it.
I usually smell the insides before opening up the instruction booklet and reading the manual.Yagr_Zero
This is me. Like the TC, I appreciate the "new game" smell after cracking the seal. Then I just about always take a look through the manual before even considering playing the game. Sometimes it's a couple of days that I haul around the manual, reading and re-reading it, before I even put the disc in the drive.

yea i used to read the manuels like they were the bible too until i learned that in most games its easier to just play and learn new things as they come in game.......but i still do smell the manual lolz why do they smell so strong anywayz?Oh yes, I smell the booklet, and then rub the CD all over my body, but only after crushing the case to a powder and snorting it.[QUOTE="CruelPleasure"]

lmao!
I typically just play the game; I don't think I've ready through a single game manual, because I'd rather learn the game from actually playing it...
I flip quickly through the manual and check the controls part a little while the game finishes installing. I don't check anything else in fear of spoilers.
lol i'm glad i'm not the only one who does this, makes me feel a little less weirdSo what do you do?

I don't actually read the manual for how to play the game, actually. I just read it for fun. I read the features and the story and the characters and all of that stuff. I don't usually actually look at the controls.
i also smell the case and booklet just like a new car or a new pair of Jordans, Any how I also briefly check the manual and then the case and condition of the game, If you are a person that sells your games the NEW SMELL is a huge reselling feature,
same.. :P.. i enjoy reading the game-y stuff.I flip through the manual to get an idea of the controls

Yes. I sniff the inside of the case too-- as long as it's an Xbox game. Some of those PC DVDs/cases smell like stale urine. Not even kidding
:o
