Today I learned that there will not be a midnight release for the Force Unleashed. So in this forum i would like for every one to say whether or not they would like a midnight release of the Force Unleashed, and if they would buy it at midnight.

Thanks,

Gamestores invaded by Starwars Geeks I sense.
All wielding plastic lightsabers and trying to get the clerks to turn to the dark side.

No, why, this is not a huge game. It will sell a lot but its not a major gaming event or anything. dvader654

This game is possibly going to be the greatest starwars game of all time, plus this game is just like a movie covering the era between movies 3 and 4. There are a lot af diehard starwars fans that would do anything to get there hands on this game at midnight, and even non diehard fans like myself, are heavily anticipating its release. I'm just saying i think a lot would sale a midnight if they choose to put it out.

Dude, did you play the demo or read any of the reviews yet? This game is merely okay, nothing too amazing. Jedi Outcast retains the title as the definitive Star Wars action game.

1. I'm not a Star Wars fan.

2. Is it a for sure thing that this game will appeal to people who do not like the series?

Please elaborate. The game hasn't done anything that hasn't been done in other games, so I don't know what you are talkin about.

I'll elaborate:

Once you actually start putting some serious time into the game and manipulating the environments, physics, and rules of the game space, SW:TFU completely eclipses Outcast. Even the lightsaber combat has grown on me because frankly, it has more flare and finesse than the baseball bat swings found in Oucast and Academy. Every time I play the demo I see something new, some little bit of minutia or some enemy reaction that makes each play through unique. The game also gives you an insanely wide array of options when dealing with enemies, and even within the confines of the demo the possibilities are varied and plentiful.

I think it's a damn shame that so many people are tossing this one aside without really peeling back the layers but ultimately, that's their problem, not mine. My initial impression of the demo was "meh" but as I've played it, my enthusiasm and admiration for the game has increased significantly and I can't wait to play the full game.

Oh No! *Insert Star Wars God name here* forbid that you have to wait maybe 8 or 9 hours until the store opens to buy it. Maybe..... the 'hardcore' should use that time to sleep so they can play and finish it in one sitting. That would be good wouldn't it?

Force Unleashed is barely an average game. Marketing people decided though, if you release something at midnight or on a Sunday, game geeks are going to flock to it regardless just because...

If Metal Gear Solid 4 wasn't worthy of a midnight release, then there is no way in Hades Force Unleashed is.

This release is all about building hype to mask a sub-par game, and I don't believe the hype.

The demo showcases some neat stuff, and a potentially interesting new sub plot to the Star Wars universe, but I'm not terribly excited for it for some reason. I have this feeling the package as a whole will be a bit on the shallow side, and better picked up at a budget price.

Where did you hear that there wouldn't be a midnight release? My gamestop has posters all over advertising it as a midnight launch... line starts at 10:00pm blah blah... Did they recently cancel it for your area or something?

The hype is moot at this point. I've played the demo, and I mean really played it, and it's a hell of a lot better than most of you are claiming. Most of you played it once or twice, didn't bother really experimenting with the environments or the force powers, and wrote it off. That of course is your choice but calling this game average seems odd considering there's really nothing comparable to it.

And MGS4 got a midnight release at my local Gamestop.

I agree with you completly, i have played the demo several times and was a little disappointed at first. Then I realized that this was better than any other starwars, and the truth is, the gameplay is just amazing.

I have to disagree. I'm a serious diehard fan of starwars, but even I believe the game is not going to be the 'greatest game ever!' And even if the reviews for the game a great, I would not go out in the middle of the night to buy the game at full price. I would buy the game, but mabye later when it's value has gone down or I can actually find them in stores with more then one left. And even then, I would really like to know the story but that is not a reason to buy a game if it's horrible. Try reading the novel or something. Finally, how in the world can you say it's the best game if it HASN'T COME OUT YET??

And for anyone who saw any of the gameplay marathon today, you will know that there is a lot more to it than the demo lets you play with.. You have to understand that the demo is a demo of the the point in the game when you are the weakest, if you don't believe that the demo unleashed the force, play the game you will unleash it 10 times greater by the end of the game.

Fixing my above comment.

Bubbabvi said it was the 'greatest starwars game ever.' Still my point hasn't changed.

Well just by the demo you can clearly see that is one of if not the best starwars game ever. The marathon today makes it even more obvious that this is truely the best. Im simply asking do you think it would benefit a store if they put it out at midnight?

By saying it's the BEST, you have opened a whole new discussion, and I believe it should be agrued. You don't see to have the facts to back those thoughts up.

However, no, I don't think it will benifit a store.

Warning copied from gamespot factsheets.

Force Unleashed:

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.

Outcast:

In the tradition of the multi-award-winning Jedi Knight, rebel agent Kyle Katarn returns in exhilarating first-person action. Several years have passed since Kyle avenged his father's death and saved the Valley of the Jedi from Jerec and his band of Dark Jedi. Allowing his Force powers to languish for fear of falling to the dark side, Kyle entrusted his lightsaber to Luke Skywalker, vowing never to use it again. But when a new and menacing threat to the galaxy emerges, Kyle knows he must reclaim his past in order to save his future. Jedi Outcast is being developed in partnership with Activision's critically acclaimed developer Raven Software. Players assume the role of Kyle as they employ a unique mix of weapons, Force powers and your lightsaber in both single and multiplayer modes.

Maybe you are right, but that isn't so much everybody on the forums being lazy as much as it is a flaw with the game's design. If I can get through the demo hammering x with the occasional push of y for the lightning and beat the demo on my first try without having too much fun, that's the demo's fault, not mine.

That being said, this wouldn't be the first game that I like more and more the longer I play, and the actual, full length game is probably more fun than the demo. I watched a video with the developers on Xbox Live and they seemed so excited about the game that I still want to give it a try despite not liking the demo.

Well, it really comes down to design philosophy and the notion that a game can be, to some extent, a blank canvas that the player uses to forge their own experience.

Is that philosophy wrong?

Personally, I love the idea of creating our own rules and experiences, but I also understand that some of you see this type of game design as flawed. I can respect where you're coming from even if I personally disagree but my problem is that people are calling this game "average" when there is nothing average about it at all, at least in my estimation.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy the full game when it gets released. To be honest, it took me a few play throughs on the demo to really get the hang of things and now I absolutely love it. I think the game has some shortcomings but I'm still looking forward to nabbing a copy.

Will the game be fun? Sure. I just believe it's going to get some flaws. I think that eventually, the game will come down to beating the snot out stormtroopers and that is going to be great. But, I think also that eventually the game will get boring. Of course I guess I can't technically say that because it hasn't come out yet. So futher, I don't know what is going to become of the game and I could be wrong, but calling it the best starwars game ever is a little to far. Personally, I think the trailers for this game look like movie previews.

Wait so this is out today? Looks like I have to make a trip to the store in the bit. Though I usually get games up here a week later than everyone else do to living in polar bear infested northern Canada. *shifty eyes* shhh... they're everywhere!
