We are XBox newbies having just made the move from our outdated Game Cube system. We have been playing Battlefield: Midway and Rainbow Six Vegas and have had a periodic problem with game freeze. The image just stops and there seems to be nothing to do about it except turn off and restart the XBox. At first it only happened with Midway online. In the middle of the game it would just freeze and we figured it was happening to everyone on that game. The other night it happened while we were going through the process of joining an Rainbow Six Vegas match-everytime we got to this particular load it would freeze. Again we thought it was an online thing. Then last night for the first time it happened while playing Rainbow Six on our XBox (not playing online but at the time we were signed in).We never ran into game freeze with Game Cube.

So my question is "Do we have a problem with our consule or is this a normal occurance?" Is there anything we can do to avoid it and if it happens is the only thing you can do is restart the consule?

Thanks.

P.S. We did get the no questions ask replacement warrenty at Best Buy.

Unfortunately the Xbox 360 is known for a wide array of hardware issues, and freezing is among them. Rainbow Six Vegas, in my experience, seems to freeze more often than other games. If your system freezes often with more than just that one game, you could have a bad system on your hands.

Check the manufacturers date on the back. Try to get the newest possible. Take it back if it's an older unit or it keeps freezing. The rrod is out there, as is e74 affecting systems. I personally went thru a few before switching to ps. Registering a unit is helpful also, but the system unfortunately is problem frequent. A friend of mine is on his 5th already. Sometimes rebooting the system from scratch helps but back up your data to a memory card so nothing is lost. Don't use an intercooler, and I'd reccommend not playing for long, long periods of time. Check the internet and such for others' opinions and help. Hope I assisted.
