Hi, I'm just looking for a good free game in which you have to earn/unlock abilities and/or money, preferably not an rpg. I'd also like to know what type of game this is known as.

Call of Duty 4.

You can unlock guns, level up, get attachments for your guns, gain special abilities, and it is so not an rpg!

Are you looking for something that's an MMO? A free MMO is going to be hard to find that's not an RPG.
