Which controller is the best controller? I've had 3 official controllers, which worked great, but I cord broke. I've got 1 off brand which I haven't liked as much. I can't remember the brand.

What has been your experience - are the official GC controllers worth the extra cash, or is there an off brand which works as good?

Thanks

In my experience the official GC controller is the best. I tried an off brand (3rd party) controller on a first person shooter game (Medal of Honor) and I could hardly get a body shot because the analog stick for aiming was poor. The official GC controller was more accurate with aiming.

Always go for the official controller.

Wasn't there a controller for GC that was made by Wavebird or some company like that? It was a wireless GC controller to.

The Wavebird is made by Nintendo, it's just their name for the wireless controller. If you can find it, it's great, but they're kind of rare.

I've only bought official controllers, my friend brought over his 3rd party once for some SSBM and F-Zero and the turbo buttons were cool (not that they were needed that time) but the analog stick was very loose.

It depends on how much you play, but I believe they're cheaper for a reason.

Oh I see. I never really knew. I just saw the commercials back in 2002 or so and remember the controller being wireless.

I love my Wavebird. Good thing I bought it when it's still current, no idea it would become a rarety. My wife hates it and prefers the wired controller, but I swear I see no performance difference between that and a wired controller.

I'm pretty sure the only disadvantage is the lack of rumble, am I right?

The official Gamecube controller is definitely worth the extra money. The 3rd party controllers for GC are not nearly as good as the real thing. Not only does the overall quality of the off-brands feel cheap, but the shape of the controller typically does not fit well with the average person's hands.

Is that a disadvantage? I honestly didn't realize it didn't have rumble and i've had the thing since 2002. I may have to go play a game tonight just to verify....

Well, it's not exactly an advantage. ;) Most, if not all, games allow you to turn off rumble if you don't like it anyway.

But anyway, the Wavebird had no rumble because it would drain the battery too much or something.

There was one 3rd party controller that would shut my gamecube off as soon as I plugged it in. Wasn't wireless either. Needless to say I threw that piece of **** out.

the one thing i dont like about the wavebird is that there is less room for your finger underneath, like there isnt an open space like the normal nintendo controller since it has batteries

I've never tried any of the 3rd party controllers because I loved the official Nintendo ones since it felt so good in my hands while I was gaming, I never had to turn to anything else.
