uhh..no. they are close but the fact that the xbox had better looking games than the wii....yeah, do you think gamecube had better graphics than the xbox because lots of ppl do.

This has to be one of the funniest things I have read in a while. Hell no it doesn't have better graphics than the xbox, I have component cables on my original xbox and nothing from last gen on consoles can touch doom 3 or halo 2 in graphics. The gamecube is more powerful than the ps2 though.
Uh, no. Nothing about the Gamecube hardware is better than the Xbox aside from its smaller size.Nismology
B-B-but GC has "Super MonkeyBall". Winner!!!
:D
But no, the GC as much as I love "MonkeyBall", does not beat the XB in graphics. I think the library is more diverse and interesting, but in terms of power the XB is still king of that gen.
Well the Gamecube is still around, they just call it something different now. ;)

Edgy comment, bro.
Remake doesn't use real 3D, just pre renderd, it looks great, but its not shwoing the capability of the Gamecube. RE4 on the other hand, does, though its as much an artistic showcase , as much as a technical one. .While it is undeniable the XBOX had better graphics, RE: Remake gave the XBOX run for its money

regardless, the game looks better than almost every XBOX game I've seen.

of course, a game doesn't necessarily need alot of polygons to look good, fighting games, especially at the time and before that, are a testement to that.Remake doesn't use real 3D, just pre renderd, it looks great, but its not shwoing the capability of the Gamecube. What about Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell CT, or Doom3?
I agree with you that a few gamecube games may have produced the best visuals that gen, though. RE 4, Rogue Squadron, Mario Sunshine, RE Remake.

It's the subject matter I'm referring to. I'm just amused that someone would revive a system wars argument from early last gen.

Ppl still argue about ps1 vs n64 graphics so I don't really see what the big deal is and this isnt quite like comparing them early last gen...Technically no, artistically - a matter of taste. I feel GameCube had much more colorful games so that may be a factor too.
However, I'll say the GameCube was a 100% improvement over the N64 when it came to ease of development, storage space, memory subsystem and stuff like that.

They were all very impressive visually, but none of them created the atmosphere and emersion that RE: Remake did, and this was largely in part to its very realistic viduals. The lighting effects were better than most games I've played from this gen. The only game you mentioned on the XBOX that was up to par with RE was probably Doom 3.

REmake had pre-rendered backgrounds so it could use some very high-poly models and realistic lighting.
I think RE4 was pretty much the best looking game last gen, but I don't think anyone's going to deny the Xbox had a more powerful GPU.

Yes, but some can argue that the gamecube was a better designed machine for games. I remember xbox games generally looking the best--sharper visuals mostly--but the GC reminds me of a percursor to the current gen system as far as textures/lighting/dof/etc goes.
I would have to say Conker Live and Reloaded had the best graphics last gen, ign rated it's graphics a 10, RE:4 got a 9.8 or something like that.I think RE4 was pretty much the best looking game last gen, but I don't think anyone's going to deny the Xbox had a more powerful GPU.

This is pretty interesting. It's a recent article trying to prove the GCN was in fact more powerful than the xbox. http://www.purevideogames.net/blog/?p=479[QUOTE="Heirren"][QUOTE="magnax1"]

Why are you bringing this up? This forum is not called "Legacy Platform wars."
Gamingclone
Considering legacy platform wars aren't allowed in System Wars, this infact *is* also "Legacy Platform Wars".

Fell free to make topics like "Megaman 8 has more shade of Blue than Sly cooper 2 therefor it's inferior" type threads.I do, i would choose a good game with good graphics over a good game with bad graphicsAnd who still cares about graphics?

Im not talking about the game itself, I wa just using an example, Its like saying someone wouldnt play a INSANELY good game that everybody loves, just because of the graphics.apickedappleI would play it, while at the same time commenting the visuals are not good for its time , if indeed that is the case. if the gameplay is good, then Ill still play it though.

I happen to think Banjo Kazzoie is already better then Mario 64
and in the end you didn't disprove my point, everyone would prefer a good game with better graphics over a good game with worse graphics
also, i've started gaming on an NES and IBM PC, and back then the focus on graphics was even bigger then it is today, so don't give me that "gamers these days" defense

I'd actually say the opposite. Xbox had more effects, like shading and lighting and focused less on polygon count, where GCs highest poly counts were quite a bit higher then the Xbox's. Like I said though the XBox's GPU was a considerable amount stronger, it also had more ram, but the GC's CPU was more powerful, and also better designed for a console.
The XB was the only console of that generation that could output HD resolutions (720p) none of the other consoles could manage that to any great degree. PD tried it with GT4 on the ps2 but it dint really work well at all and the GC dint even bother to try so its clear the XB was the most powerfull console and just take a look at Dead or Alive 3 to see how much better its graphics were than the competition.

that wasn't true 1080i its basically 480p, with programming tricks increasing the lines , its not going to be as good looking as true 1080i.
