Anybody here get what I mean by gamers remorse?
If not, here is what I mean: When you have just beaten a game and are now at a state of being in between games and you look at your collection (you do collect games don't you?) and you try to decide what you might play next and then you ponder and ponder and begin to realize that you have spent about 10 minutes debating instead of playing and then it just spirals out from there, Sometimes it can manifest itself in a different way. Such as when you put a game in and play it for about 25 seconds and then realize you didn't want to play that game and then you reset and put another game in (This sounds like OCD).

Now, I'm not saying I suffer from this constantly
But I have been playing games in my free time for the better part of my life and have turned into a bit of a collector having mostly PSOne, PS2, Xbox, 360 and Gamecube games to piddle my life away on and I buy new and used whenever I get some spare cash
But does anybody else ever get this?

And if so? share your aggravation!

Yea, that crap happens to me all the time, its just that, other things tie in with it too. I'll think to myself if I want to go play metal gear solid 4 on boss extreme or go on the computer and go to gamespot or something like that. I always get the feeling that I should be doing something else. I'll be playing killzone 2 and think to myself, "Man, I need to play allied assualt", go to my computer, boot it up, play for 5 minutes, then go back to playing killzone 2. I've goten over it recently though.

I've been gaming for about 13 years, and about 6 years really hardcore. I literally have a chunk of my paycheck set for my hobby. It is my hobby, and one of my only ones.

I've been gaming for 11 years (since I was six) and I only have about half of that. My collection isn't up to date and I have been just lazy and haven't added my SNES, N64, GB, or DS titles

I myself just have a small range of systems that I have collected over the yearsand for about every one of them i have anywhere from twenty to thirty games for each and i always have a problem of maybe I should play this game on this one.

Or like now for instance I have just beaten Fable 2 and want to start a game of Okami but I haven't played Battlefield Bad Company yet.

It's Sick!

Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Yup, I have that problem all the time. I even went to the extreme one and put them all in a bag and whichever one I picked I would play. :P

Yeah I kinda know what you mean. I have over 200 games and in the recent past have been spending too much money on games that I might never get around to playing.

I've been spending less on games lately and made a resolution to only get the major games I really want this year and try to play the ones I already have and be happy with that.

This thread really hits home with me. This same problem has been affecting me regularly for the past year or so, and I've recently been trying to enforce more controls on my hobby. By becoming a bit more restrictive I can moderate my own sense of joy. Afterall joy is relative. A dollar may be nothing to you, but to a starving man it is (harsh analogy).

I've found it easiest to just stick to one or two games for an extended period of time (weeks). If I'm bored of the game after 20-30 minutes of playing, I just decide that I don't want to play games right now and I do something else. It takes alot of willpower, but I believe the trade-off is worth it.

Similar to what an above poster said; I'm trying only to purchase genre-defying or revolutionary games from now on. I don't need 10 FPS games, I just need 1-2 really unique ones.

It's kind of like forcing myself to play games how I used to as a kid, when I didn't have as many games available to me all the time. I'd wear a game out for months until I had enough money to get a new one.

Yeah i went through this when someone told me that oblivion sucks, and then i started looking at it from that point of view then i never wanted to play oblivion ever again, but a while ago i started a new character got him to level 42 with like 3 skills at 100 in under 60 hours, right now im still enjoying resident evil 5, and im trying to get into fallout 3, I just never really got into it.

Its funny you said that

Because recently I had a hard time finishing up Fable 2 because a good friend of mine kinda opened

my eyes to why he didn't like the game and I subsequently stopped playing for about 2 months

I'm definitely there. There are so many great games that I have that I haven't even begun to try yet. But sometimes, I rather enjoy the feeling of just sitting and thinking about all the games I've played and thinking about the ones I have yet to play, and just imagining all of the possibilities makes me happy...

Lol that's a first. I have a similar problem where I'll think of playing a game, load it up and think "nah, not today." Later on I'll be sitting there watching a movie or reading a book and think "I should finish such and such game" and that's as close as I get. I think it's video game anxiety disorder where you play 1 game, but constantly worrying about finishing another and when you do finish that game, think about the other games that could of been played..

All the time. I'm floating between games right now, but I usually end up playing Valkyria Chronicles or FFX at the moment. I sit in front of m games and think, then try one, decide not too, think again. Sometimes I just give up and get put off and just lie down and stare at the ceiling or something.

I don't actually own too many games, I trade a lot in but keep my favourites and play through them again and again. I only own a GBA, PS2, PS3, Wii and DS so there's not too much diversity system-wise. I'm sure it's just us collectors who like our games. I often find myself organising my games on my shelf as well :P

This happens pretty often now. I think it's a bit of nostalgia that's playing with our minds, alongside the fact that games are changing, not in a bad way, but nonetheless changing. I have about 300 games and I feel a bit silly that I'm having a hard time choosing one.

Yep, I do the exact same thing. I sometimes spend hours in a shop just picking out a game!

Best thread ever. I spend so much time looking at my games, figuring out what to play, planning which games I'm going to add to my collection. It's ridiculous, but I'm glad to know I'm not alone. Thanks for reachin out homie.

I feel bad sometimes, because i have so many old titles that i have yet to finish or even play, yet I keep buying new ones and adding to the 'to do' pile. Though my gaming expenses is definately less than in past years, due to lack of games that I want. Going from 2009 to 2010 I bought less, and so far 2011 only has 5 titles im looking foward to.

I try to get new and unique things, partly why I dont go for all those popular hyped games that sell tons. And games with guns just dont interest me, which almost everything seems to be these days.
