Why all people who never play video-games think that games are bad. They only see disadvantages in games?? They see only brutal games. I heard what my teacher said: "Teenagers are worse and worse It's games fault"

Why games fault? What's about movies, bad company etc.?? Does Anyone know anwser ?

I agree. I have to say though, that more and more, games are eating into the time that children used to spend playing. Kids today have noticeably poorer creativity and social skills. (good with computers though!)

True. But even so, it's not really the fault of the video games or the companies who make the games. It all comes down to the parents. If little Timmy playes too much Xbox, is it the fault of an inanimate object orthe people who are legally in-charge of what little Timmy does everyday? Parents just don't have the balls to yell at Timmy and say no. Then, when Timmy does something stupid, they shift responsibility from their lack of parenting skills to how video games influence their kids.

Games = Fun.

Parents = Lazy,

apparantly there 'violent' there 'bad for learning'

They manipulate kids minds.Rubbish.

Would they rather we shot someone down in real life or tortured someone in real life????

My english teacher lets us play his XBOX 360 at the end of terms e.g christmas. LOL best teacher ever????

Video games are not what is making youth more violent. Society is making youth more violent. The world has become more increasingly a "me" culture where people are self centered and don't care about anything but whatthey want. This has trickled down to the next generation. Why blame video games? The blame belongs on a lot of things. You could blame celebrities, you could blame TV and we could blame ourselves.

Actually teenagers have been getting worse for the last 40 years, but that's not the point.

The point is: when someone is ignorant about a subject (games, movies, music, politics, sports, religion...), he tends to believe whatever the media say about that thing. It is obvious that the media will not talk about Viva Pinata! or Brian Lara Cricket, because no one would be interested in that. What generates interest in the public are scandals and games like Manhunt or Grand Theft Auto are a gold pile for the media, being fertile ground for scandals.
The result is: media only talk about violent and offensive games= people think all games are violent and offensive= Games are evil.

In what era has teenagers have not gotten worse?

Every generation, you hear your elders always say things like "in my days, we couldn't talk to our parents that way", "what's wrong with kids today?" etc etc etc.

Hey all I was stating was the fact, I did not blame anyone. You are right though, there is a market for games that is supported by children that have not been parented properly. Its hardly the games industry's fault! Oh and games definetly don't make people more violent. Having said that, studies have found that gamers are much more decisive that could possibly see them diagnosing a violent situation earlier and responding (sometimes violently) more quickly.

Thats not strictly true. We've been saying that for the last three generations. Children were generally much better behaved during my grand parentsera (the children should be seen and not heard generation). It could be true that the behaviour of children is worsening (i think it is).

Yes It's true that parents are lazy. They don't see what their children do, don't know what their kids play. I was very surprised when I saw that mum who bought her child game 16+. PARENTS= LAZY.

Aren't there studies out there that show youth related crime is decreasing, contradicting people like Jack Thompson?

Oh and since I brought him up, the latest VG Cats comic is pretty hilarious XD

Compared to now, certainly childrens were much more obedient.

But even then, the elders of that generation would usually still find them unfit and rude, and worrying about how the future generation would handle society. Every genration had their share of problems including gangs, theives, playboys, etc.

It doesn't matter if it's 15th century or 21st century, teenagers are always causing problems. Puberty is a *****

The funny thing is that when we are 70 years old we will be saying the same thing. It's a cycle that none of us can escape.

Some games can be evil, but it's the same with everything else that has to do with entertainment such as novels, movies, television shows, comic books, etc.

I think there are more evil books than games or movies. For example, did you know that religious groups consider Golden Compass and Harry Potter, which are children's books, evil?

I just got done reading a quote from Plato talking about how terrible the youth of Athens were and how society is headed down the wrong path. I think it has more to do with the fact that people will usually complain no matter how good everything gets for them.
