I'm looking for some PS2 games that are basically built from a unique gameplay mechanic. Okami has the Celstial Brush, Dark Cloud has the Georama System, Katamari Damacy has the Katamari Ball. They play like completely different games obviously, but I'm just looking for something with a premise a little more unique.

I would reccomend Ico and Shadow of the Collosus. SotC is best enjoyed if Ico is played through first, just trust me for spoilers reasons.

Ico features protecting and leading a girl through a castle by holding onto her hand. Very short game, but fun and introduces an awesome twist right when things seem to get boring. Shadow of the Colossus offers amazing boss battles. These battles are so immense that they are actually the only enemies in the entire game.

I only reccomend both games if you don't mind enjoying the beauty of a game, and are patient, otherwise you probably won't like them.

Blastworks for the Wii is a create-a-shooter. I mean shoot-them-ups not other types.Check it out and see for yourself!

If you're looking for unique gameplay on the PS2, you honestly cannot go wrong with Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil. It's a fantastic platformer esque game with some of the best graphics and music in any game I've played.

Shadow of the Colossus is exactly what I was looking for except I have already played it. Does it spoil anything about Ico? I haven't played Ico.

Ecco I did not expect. I knew about it from being on the Dreamcast but it didn't really interest me then. Reading some reviews it also sounds like the sort of thing I was looking for.

Blastworks looks intriging but I'll have to get a Wii first.

I played a demo of Klonoa 2 a few years ago. Completely forgot about it for a while but then when I wanted to find it I forgot how the hell the spell it. Thanks.

You could always try Rez for the PS2. It's got a unique gameplay that you might like.

I tried Rez years ago, hated it but the TC may like it. BTW I recommend Ico and Shadow Of the Collossus. Both Team Ico games and definitely a unique gaming experience

Now that I think of it, it doesn't really spoil anything, I just thought it was cool finding the connection between the two games after I beat SotC. SotC is the prequel to Ico, it's a spoiler, but you would find that out as soon as you start the game anyways.

Graffitti Kingdom, It lets you draw and make your own creatures and then you can give them premade attacks.

Ghost Recon 1, it lets you take two groups of soldiers with 3 guys each and you can switch between any guy on either team. You can also control the other team by waypoints and orders to set up your own crossfires and overwatch and stuff. It also lets your soldiers gain XP and get better at things. The graphics are horrable compared to stuff now but I love that game.

Kingdom Hearts 1-2, A cool action RPG but it has this awesome gummiship mode that lets you create your own spaceship and fight your through enemies between planets(pretty similar to old starfox). 2's gummiship mode was awesome.

...this is to hard. I dont keep track of stuff like this.

Dark Cloud 2 is by far one the best RPGs I've ever played on the PS2 and is leagues and beyond compared to the first game.

Killer 7 is another good option, which is like House of the Dead meets FPS meets Dire Straits videos. Mr. Mosquito is also good, and extremely cheap. Someone already mentioned Rez, but I'll second them.

I don't know if you have a Xbox360 or not, but Braid was a really enjoyable game built around a rather novel concent: the manipulation of time.

I've always loved the Monster Rancher games, and thought the concept of unlocking monsters by loading other games, cd's, & dvd's was really cool. I'd say part 2 & 4 were the best.

Check out the reviews for a better description but these games are innovative. trapt - you're a girl who has some kind of demonic connection with a haunted castle or something like that. You set traps to kill your enemies. Primal - you get to switch between a girl (who battles monsters) and a gargoyle (who can walk on walls and ceilings). Sometimes buggy but it's a good adventure game. Shinobi or Nightshade - they're action games but their take on fighting is different. Your goal is to string attacks and use them to get through chasms. Prince of Persia - with it's sands of time - you can rewind time. The first one is the best and all gamers should play it. Viewtiful Joe - 2d/3d action game, you can control the speed of your actions. Mark of Kri - action game with a cool way of fighting. Graffiti Kingdom and Magic Pengel - Magic Pengel is more charming but GK is easier to play. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are ok. I didn't like Shadow of the Colossus because of the choppy framerate, sluggish controls.
