I was curious to see what games that have come out this gen that you all believe will be classics/collectable/rare in the next 5 to 10 years? In other words, what games will have dozens of Legacy threads created to discuss them lol? I personally believe quite a few Wii titles will become highly collectable someday, specially the Mario Galaxy games, Zelda TP, Metroid, and possibly games like no more heros. It is harder to say with the PS3 and 360 titles, but I could see low profile RPGs like Demon Souls and Resonance of Fate becoming highly sought after someday. So what games do you think will become classics in the next decade or so?

Well they have to be revolutionary or have had a significant impact on the genre to REALLY be a classic. For example my fav games this gen is the Uncharted series. But i can be honest, aside from the beautiful graphics theres not really anything that hasn't been done before in other games so i'm not sure they will have the lasting appeal compared to a game such as Little Big Planet for example, But that's just my opinion. what do i know?

Valkyria Chronicles and 3D Dot Game Heroes come to mind. Weren't particularly popular or huge financial successes but they are great games that appeal to a more niche market.

I think of games that got very little attention, flopped at retail and then become in-demand as its cult followers sing its praises to others online. I'm thinking Valkyria Chronicles has a decent chance of that happening.

Agree. I also think Demon's Souls will make the list. A lot about it feels old school to begin with. Little King's Story is another game I think would make the cut..again another title that wasn't considered a financial success.

Braid is the only game that comes to mind. I don't think it deserved all the praise it got, but I can see it being remembered for years to come as a classic.

Classics are games that were very good or standout back in their day. So basically all high-scoring games of today will be tomorrow's classics. Although some genres may be considered more valuable than the others (for example sports games tend to get outdated quickly while RPGs remain fresh for years).
