Games ( over-rated & under-rated)

What are some games on any platform that you found to be over or under-rated. Here are a few that come to mind.

Eternal Darkness (Gamecube) over-rated

Ratchet & Clank : Future Tools of Destruction (PS3) under-rated

Kid Chameleon (Sega Genesis) under-rated

Pokemon ( Any Platform) over-rated

There are more, but I would like to know what everyone else thinks.

Amazing game, definaitly doesn't get enough recognition.

I found Eternal Darkness (GameCube) to be vastly overrated, I was so disappointed when I finally threw down the cash and got it because all I heard were great things about it :(

Umm........ I would say Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 is really underrated. What an awesome game, I am still hoping for a sequel to it :D

I consider all Zelda games overrated. I can never see the appeal in them, even though I've tried to get into them.Shiggums

i respect your opinion, but it bums me out because LoZ series would have to be one of my favorite series ever. I'd like to know what zelda titles have you tried to get into?

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

NES: Battle Toads and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves are both very underrated. BTD's was the best beat-em up and RH:PoT combined action, adventure and RPG.

SNES: Blackthorne was very underrated. It was Prince of Persia with a shotgun, only better.

PS2: Metal Slug 5 is underrated. At the time, gamespot only gave it around a 7.5. It was much funner than that.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64 are really good games to be sure, but over rated. Ocarina of Time amazing game, but not without flaws, the 10 undeserved. In my opinion for a game to score perfect it should be perfect and no such game exists. Don't get me wrong great games for sure. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn I think is under rated. That's all that comes to mind off hand, though I know I've noticed other games where I think they missed the mark.

didn't Legend of Dragoon receive almost perfect scores. i know gamespot didn't score it very well, but i'm sure that it was scored pretty decently. btw it was a great game. one of my favorites.

vandal hearts is underrated, sotc, tgl, enrgy airforce, vf4 evolution too.

Elevator Action (NES) - Vastly Underrated

Metal Gear Series - Underrated, i know it gets its due but its just so awesome that it is still underrated

Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Windwaker. The first two I just played while at a friend's house, maybe a few hours in and I couldn't get into them. The latter I actually own, and it really doesn't do it for me.

The original Zelda and A Link to the Past were both very good, but the second one was grossly overrated and claimed as "inventive" and "unique" when a game such as Super Mario Bros 2 was much better yet called "not as good as the SMB or SMB 3."

Doom definitly is underrated. Doom is the originarot of FPS and Doom II is still one of my top 10 games of all time

r u serious dude? i hope that you've played zelda II. the boss battles were epic for it's time. better than mario 2's boss battles. come on throwing clay pots at a three headed cobra is cool, but battling a minotaur or your own shadow was just frickin' great. also the leveling up was so damn great on zelda II. i loved both mario 2 and zelda2, but i always thought zelda2 was under-rated. it's your opinion, but i am a little surprised.

I know alot of ppl are going to hate me for this but nothing is more over-rated than COD4 and the Halo franchise. As far as under-rated, Rainbow six vegas is very under-rated.grant_hill

Chaos Legion (PS2): It was dismissed as a Devil May Cry clone and didn't get the respect it deserved. An extremely fun and challenging action game.

Blood Will Tell (PS2): Probably THE most underrated game on the PS2, in my opinion. Anyone who's into story-driven action games needs to track this one down. It can be hard to find, but it's well worth it.

Shadow Of Rome (PS2): Another great action game that isn't really talked about.

Haunting Ground (PS2): A psychological thriller that focuses on exploration and puzzles instead of cheap scares and combat. Survival horror at its finest.

ATV offroad series:Under rated: With me even Burnout or Midnight club or GTM or Need for spped cannot compare to this game:great graphic,funny gameplay,amazing sound,i dont know exactly why it's only get 7 to 8 points on Gamespot

Genji:underrates: has one of the best graphic on PS2 games,and only 7 points on GS

Super Mario Bros. 2 wasnt considered as good as 1 or 3 because it was another game with its charachters replaced by mario charachters. Miyamoto didnt even have anything to do with it.

I agree. I have many friends that like the final fantasy series, and say other games mostly 8 that are better then 7. I tried to get in the final fanasty series myself, but it just seems to eh to me. Im not THAT big a fan of story telling. But i think most of the final fanasty series gets to much hype over itself.

DK64 over-rated?!? Nooooooooooooo!!! that's one of my favorite N64 games, but that's cool I wasn't a fan of Oddworld: strangers wrath

Hahaha. I'd guess Zelda II was grossly under-rated. Yeah, it's seen as unique, but there are also MANY who think it's sh!t because it's so different.

Hm...lemme see...

Golden Axe(Overrated):This game's been on about every Sega game collection I've seen, and I've no idea why. It's a decent game for a while, sure, but it's not amazing, and those sound effects always grated me...

Left 4 Dead(Overrated):It's recent, I know, but I still think it's WAY overrated. This game's got crazy good reviews, and all the 360 players I've met who have it say it's great, but I don't see why...the graphics aren't very good, there's only 6 weapons, and the whole game's run, shoot zombies, run some more, shoot some more zombies, get swarmed by about 50 zombies and be unable to run even though there's nothing in front of you, die, get revived, run some more, shoot a special zombie, run into the safehouse and there you have it. Not to mention there's four "campaigns", one of which I beat with a friend in 41 minutes.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein(Underrated):I know this game got crazy good reviews, but nobody remembers it...=/ This game was great single-player(albeit that one mission where you had to sneak into the rocket base was a pain), and the multiplayer was a boatload of fun, albeit a bit laggy...
