I've been having issues with a lot of games lately, mainly FPS's. I don't know why, but for some reason FPS games have been making me sick. I'll be fine when I start to play, a few minutes later I get really hot, and then soon after I feel like I'm going to puke. I have a feeling that it's some sort of motion sickness. This is depressing because my girlfriend and I love to play FPS games together and I can't play for long periods. I was wondering if anyone had any similar issues and if they have any remedies.

Perhaps you suffer from motion sickness? I have a friend who tends to feel ill while playing first-person games due to that.

The weird part is that I only feel crappy when I play FPS's. I could eat a pizza, hang upside-down for and hour, and then ride a roller coaster and it doesn't effect me.

This happens to me all the itme on the ps3. On the computer the fluidity of the mouse movements are much easier on my eyes, on the console the jerkiness of the right analog stick make me feel like tossing my cookies.

The two main solutions I've read over the years are to keep the lights on and sit back further from the screen or play on a smaller TV.

Games with inconsistent framerates and/or excessive view-bob (or excessive first person movement, like Condemned) seem to be the worst culprits, although I've never had a problem with motion sickness from a game.

Happened to me one time. I just got Halo 3 and played it. However, I started getting very dizzy to the point where I would throw up. I went to the doctor's and he said I had Vertigo, all I had to do was just stop playing Halo for a little while and it would go away.

It only happens with games where your lost and dont know where to go and you're wondering around aimlessy. Also games with ALOT of repeated enviroments. Which games are you suffering from?? Also playing FPS games with you GF? **** lucky

Try upping the refresh rate on your monitor. Helped me a few years ago when I got a new PC, all of a sudden I would feel sick when playing FPS games (this is after 10 years of gaming, no issues). I changed the refresh rate from 60 hz to 75 hz and the problems stopped. Might be worth a go.

This only happens to me if I play Tony Hawk for over an hour. I don't think there are any ways to get past it besides taking brakes, sorry.

I get motion sickness from The orange box on 360, namely Half Life. I was slightly queasy with Portal, but not as bad. I don't have it with any other game, although now I think about it - Mirrors edge demo did make me feel a little odd.

I havent had a game cause this but I get motion sick if im a passenger in a vehicle. They have medicines for it that they give out on cruise ships and airplanes and stuff but that would be kinda dumb to buy some just to play FPS's lol. Its a nuerological problem, the stuff we see doesnt match the movements of our bodies. Just be grateful it isnt causing you to have seizures like some people.

Many have the same issues with the modern day FPS, it is motion sickness that is causing you to feel ill.

The FPS nowadays have this blur effect when you turn the character and this can cause some to feel ill in the long run, it makes it more realistic yes but you kinda trick the brain into thinking you're moving when you actually yourself aren't and this will collide and will make you dizzy.
You can see if there's able to take away the blur effect or you just have to take a break once in awhile.

The one game for some reason that seems to make me feel light headed and give me a stomach ache would be the Metroid Prime series. Not all the time but definately after putting in a few hours I seem to get a bit sick.

I have the same exact problem. I have yet to find a solution to the problem other than just limiting the amount of time that I play. My biggest worry is that if 1st person games make me this nauseous, I won't be able to play virtual reality at all.

I don't know about you people but I can't stand first person shooters anymore. condemed 2 sucked, turok sucked, perfect dark zero sucked, I hated halo 3, that gam was a rip off and I don't plan on getting fallout 3 just because its fps. I love Third person shooters because it shows the character and the camera lets you see more. fps is so 90's. FPS should only be on the wii or the arcade. sorry but I grew out of fps games. I can't stand them anymore and like you said they do make me sick too. I get a headace and i get sick in the stomach. maybe its my brain telling me that fps games suck anymore LOL!

I think that you don't like FPS anymore but i like any good game (FPS,TPS,RTS...etc) but most of the FPS you talked about were not highly rated games except halo 3
