Or at least made you loose track of time? I can name about 3 or 4 over different periods of time where I put in longer than my usual 1 - 3 hour sessions just being totally immersed, taking my mind off the day to day bullshit.

Metal Gear Solid 1 back when it 1st came out (self explanatory)

Mass Effect 2 (hated the demo, fell in love with the actual game the more I got into it)

Bioshock 1 (my 1st FPS game, never knew an FPS could be so creative)

and most recently, Dragon's Dogma (story sucks but gameplay and combat mechanics are the best I've seen in a JRPG in a long time)

Nothing recent, that's for sure. In the past gaming was very social, often with numerous people in front of the tv. Even solo games like resident evil were played in this manner. I'd say games like Mario 64, Ocarina, and MGS really got me sucked in to where I just wanted to be alone and play the game. Twilight Princess and the Uncharted series are the more recent ones that come remotely close to that other era.

Social life is overated. I am quite happy with having a few close friends and family and playing my computer games to relax me.STB1001

I agree. That' s how things are in my life right now and I like it this way.

On topic, probably Skyrim.

Dark Souls, Wind Waker, Skyrim, and all the Super Smash Bros. games are all games I played obsessively at one point or another. I'm still playing Dark Souls.

I'm definitely going through this right now with Guild Wars 2, only reason I'm not playing it at the moment is because its late and my eyes are burning from the nonstop play, otherwise I would've continued. I can't even remember the last time a game had me so deeply immersed Quite strange thinking about it now, I bought the game a few weeks after its release and just didn't enjoy it, cue last week I install it out of boredom and now I can't get enough of it, I honestly don't know what clicked but damn has it got its hooks deep in me.

Any really deep fighting game. Virtua Fighter 5, The King of Fighters XIII, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus are the three deepest fighting games of this console generation by a country mile, and I probably spent the first two weeks after each game's release doing nothing but learning how to play them.

That's how I was back when arcades were still prominent.  Today you just lose online.  Back then there was a sense of embarrassement to go along with that.

Nothing really nowdays for me. I used to be able to sit down and play a game for 4+ hours easily. Now I have trouble remaining entertained for more than 2 hours, sometimes less.

Back in middle school I used to play Runescape like crazy, and I knew a lot of people who played WoW constantly, MMOs seem to be the genre that can really suck you in if you're into them.

RPGs in general can do that... I find it very easy to lose myself in a good RPG, especially ones on the longer side.

Most recently I've played a lot of Far Cry 3 for the Xbox 360, Batman: Arkham City for the Wii U, Assassin's Creed 3, and New Super Mario Bros. U. My fiancé loves video games just as much as me, so I play a lot of video games without the problems of my significant other pulling me away from the games. She has been putting a lot of time in Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I'm about to start on Zelda: Skyward Sword. I just bought a copy off of ebay. The best experience I've had recently though is probably Mass Effect 3. That game rocked.

Anything by Bethesda. The Elderscroll or Fallout games, sequels and expansions.... Doesn't matter which one... I just get more involved in the game world than I do the real world which is probably unhealthy (at least that's what my wife tells me as she groans whenever I get a new one) but damn I love those games. It doesn't help either that I've been known to restart my character halfway through because I suddenly decide I want to role play it from a different angle. Especially when you consider that halfway through can mean 20-40 hours of play already. But tha's another beauty of those game engines, they're so open-ended you always wonder what would happen with a different skill set or faction.

I don't have much of a social life to begin with, but Yakuza 4 and Fallout 3 were two games in recent years that consumed a very large portion of my time when I played them.

Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption made me lose track of time. Games don't really stop my life though.
