I'm just wondering about which games u want to buy strategy guide to play with the game. For me, it's any Final Fantasy games. It feels more comfortable playing with guides. And that's why I haven't played any games because I don't have ones.

I used to always get a strategy guide for rpgs until I bought the FFIX strategy guide.
That was such a waste of money. Those who bought the strategy guide should know what I'm talking about.
I haven't bought a strategy guide since then.
I think guides take all the fun out of a game, if a guide is needed then it should only be from the internet for free and for areas of great frustration, but to me if a game has such an area than it was not that good of a game, a game should be fun and amazing not frustratiing and annoying. thats just my take on it.
What about games with secrets and hidden items?I think guides take all the fun out of a game, if a guide is needed then it should only be from the internet for free and for areas of great frustration, but to me if a game has such an area than it was not that good of a game, a game should be fun and amazing not frustratiing and annoying. thats just my take on it.

I got the guide for the original star ocean, cuz that game confussed the crap outta me....
I got the guide for FF12, I really REALLY think you should get that freegin guide if you buy that freegin game, or at least if you wana do more than 30% of the crud the game has to offer, espers, quest, the Zodiac spear.....
I have played thru perhaps 50 games, I always have liked having a good guide. In fact, i think that some of the games wouldn't have be completable without a guide or two.
Having said that, I have never bought a Guide. Gamespot, GameFaqs, IGN, etc have some great Guides for free. The people who put a lot of labor and love into the free guides deserve a lot of thanks too.
I think the best thing about guides is the artwork. I only have Crisis Core and MGS guides, but I love the story explanations and artwork that you get in them, good for people who missed out on the artwork book that came with special ed Crisis Core.I have played thru perhaps 50 games, I always have liked having a good guide. well I buy them for big RPGs like FF but only allow them after the first play though. Brady guides are never good anyway.
Yeah same, I had a gander at the missions every so often when getting lazy for Crisis Core, but that's because 300 missions can get tedious to navigate.well I buy them for big RPGs like FF but only allow them after the first play though. Brady guides are never good anyway.

I think you should get a guide for any game you want really. Personally I'll usually pick guides up for the big name RPG's like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest because I really enjoy the artwork and all the various details they usually thrown in concerning characters, enemies, weapons, items, etc. as it can make for a pretty good read. I'll playthrough the game for the first time on my own referring to the guide only if I get really stuck on something for a period of time. After I'll use the guide to check whatever I may have missed.
If I were less cheap, I'd buy guides all the time just for the artwork. As for actual content and use, I would say a Fallout 3 guide would come in handy. I just use teh internets though, since I am so cheap
I usually only buy guides for only rpg's and mmo's because of all the content in the games.I'm just wondering about which games u want to buy strategy guide to play with the game.
