I had most of God of War III and Uncharted 2 ruined for me. I couldn't help looking at videos and spoilers and they are still awesome games but didn't have that super wow factor they would've had without the internet ruining them for me.

Fallout 3. They kept promising and swearing to every god they could think of that it would be in the same spirit as the first ones. And then all it is, is Oblivion in a wasteland with guns. It's like being promised a very good aged single malt, and discover that what you just took a sip of is a luke-warm Jack and coke. I could never appreciate that game for what it was. My loss, I guess. *shrug*ChiliDragonI thought it was a perfect blend of the old Fallout games mixed with some of the more modern gameplay conventions of Oblivion. I don't think it's realistic to expect all gameplay conventions to follow the same outdated formula as a decade-old game.

Then best I can do is to say that Fallout 1 and 2 didn't seem to care if they offended anyone, they just kept doing what thy were doing. Fallout 3 removed called groin shots and prostitution, and my complaint is not that I want those two things. My complaint is that they removed them because they were afraid those things were too offensive. I hope that made sense. It's very hard to put into words.

Same with killing kids. Again, the lack of an ability to turn children into swiss cheese isn't a bad thing on its own. The problem is, it doesn't make sense in the context of a game in which the player has the freedom to be an evil S.O.B.
For example, at one point in the game I got hired to kidnap a 10 year old girl and sell her into slavery (with her likely being sold as a sex slave). In that kind of game, a game in which in certain situations problems can be solved simply by murdering everyone in town, it just DOESN'T MAKE SENSE given the context of the game. It's a decision made ONLY to avoid too much controversy. It pulls me out of any sense of immersion, and makes me feel like I'm just playing a game.
Also, I found Fallout 3 to largely be lacking in much of the wit, charm, and humor of Fallout 2. Just seemed a little bit too cold and generic as far as mood goes.
Anyway, I definitely liked Fallout 3. But after realizing that it wasn't gonna be the game i was hoping for, I sort of just had to settle for the game that I got. It's not a BAD game, but I was a little bit let down.

The difference between you and me was you were able to move past the disappointment and enjoy Fallout 3 on its own merits, and I wasn't. I was too busy being bitter about all the things it was not.

You can dismember people in gruesome ways, and there is prostitution in the game as well. I don't know what exactly you think they removed.

Male and female, of all ages. There were slavers (who would happily buy your wife from you), there was a porn studio where you could work for extra cash, as either star or fluffer depending on your stats. You could kill a mob boss by tricking his little boy into thinking that the real gun you just slipped him works just like his toy gun and then watch him blow his dad's brains out. You can kill children when they steal from you. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland people would do anything to survive, literally anything, and Interplay didn't shy away from showing that. Bethesda allows you to dismember people in really gruesome ways in the hopes that you won't notice that all children are magically bullet proof. I won't even go into the sheer wit and cleverness of the original games, that I didn't see anywhere in Fallout 3. It's not about being graphically violent and adding prostitution just to add it. It's about adding it when it makes sense to add it, and when it does, to actually do it.
