God of War III. Kratos is the least likable main character that I've ever seen in any game. I really, really hate Kratos... or maybe it is just the way the writers treated him in the third game. I've never played any of the other God of War games so I'm not sure if he was always this unlikable.
In pretty much every Grand Theft Auto game, the supporting cast is better than the main character, particularly San Andreas.
However, I really thought Niko Bellic from GTAIV was probably the best character they've ever had. Just ahead of Tommy (forgot his last name) from Vice City.
Agreed, Vice City as well, i dont even remember the guy from GTAIII's name. If you talking strictly GTA then yeah, NIkko, but Rockstar as a whole it would have to go to John Marston. In pretty much every Grand Theft Auto game, the supporting cast is better than the main character, particularly San Andreas.

[QUOTE="GodofGods1995"]Final Fantasy X, solid supporting cast, great game, but Tidus's outfit is too much for me.Regent192and his voice... Yeah, he was pretty whiney.
Dislikes the hero? Probably Bayonetta, based on the demo though. Games where I have liked other characters over the protagonist? Probably a few but Devil May Cry 4 springs to mind. Nero is awesome, but you just can't beat Dante.
Kratos
Claude from GTA III
Raiden from MGS
Most military FPS' that have no personality/dialogue
Squall from FF VIII (although Zell makes up for it)
i hated nero, but its more because they never explain where the **** nero came from, their are rumors that he is virgils son but all we know is he does have spardas blood, anyway for me its vaan from ff12, why would anyone like that kid?Dislikes the hero? Twin-Blade
Tales of the Abyss.

I can understand why, but to a certain extent. Luke was a spoiled, whiny kid that often complained a lot. But way later in the game, he changes into a true man and finally stops being the person that he was in the past. I thought he was a good hero, not a bad one.

Personally, Niko is one of the most boring (in my opinion) GTA characters of all time. :P Tommy Vercetti was great though, and even though CJ had his annoying moments, he was pretty great too. Claude Speed didn't really have a personality and so he's just average to me.
I didn't particularly dislike Raiden from MGS2, but it was kind of annoying in the way that I would have rather used Solid Snake.
I am also unsure on Leon from the RE games. He is strong and is a great character, but at the same time he's annoying and has an annoying haircut, both of these especially in RE4 lol :P.
I also wasn't a fan of using 50 Cent in Blood On The Sand, for some reason. I found the countless "50's" in regards to lines such as "come on, 50" to be quite annoying, personally.
I also didn't really like Kurtis Trent from Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. I have always seen Tomb Raider to be "Lara's game". Whenever Lara is replaced and if she ever will be again for a time, it just won't feel like Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider is Lara Croft ;). I think that is the most important ones

Vercetti, that's right. Thanks. :) I mainly enjoyed Niko because he was a different "kind" of character, no longer the Italian-American 'guido' type, but a Eastern European expatriate. I suppose because in real life I've got family who live in his area (plus my secret obsession with thick Russian/Serbian accents), is another reason why I liked him, on top of the new character model.

You sir are a douche. Kratos is mad, because the gods made him that way. They slaved him and he had to do everything he could to clean the gods mess. They promised they would erase Kratos memories of killing his family (Ares, the god of war made Kratos kill his family) but the gods never fullfilled their promise. Then they betrayed Kratos again, Zeus came to Earth and he stabbed Kratos. He died and he returned from the dead and he swore revenge to the Gods for everything, so he went look for the titans and they said they would help Kratos. The titans lied aswell, they wanted to kill Zeus nevertheless, whatever happened to Kratos wasn't the titans business even though that Kratos went back in time to save the titans from the Great War. Kratos always did his job and he always fullfilled his promises. The titans almost got him killed and the gods killed him. For everything, Kratos got himself consumed by rage and he took everything and everyone in his way. Kratos is the best character ever.
Now to answer the topic I would say Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City.
Leaving out JPRG's which really take this category to new heights. (Special mention to the whiney flute playerCapellin Infinite Undiscovery.)
I would vote for the bizarrely characterised Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire. Forget his love of middle aged drug addicts and the fact he is a bizarre Pearl Harbor Truther and a mass murder... he is easily theleast likable protagonist I have ever played.
Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy X, Star Ocean TLH. No matter how good the game can be, an annoying main character kills it for me. I just stop playing it.Black_Knight_00
I honestly don't understand the hatred for Tidus. Sure, his voice actor is annoying, but as a character, I thought he was one of the better Final Fantasy heroes in its history.

I feel that Wakka's place as a suppoting character was better anyway. I liked having to hear about Tidus and his father...that was a lot more interesting to me than whatever Wakka could offer.

Yeah i see what you mean, Yuna and Lulu were always the most intersting to me, i have never played X-2 but i might just to go more into their stories.Vercetti, that's right. Thanks. :) I mainly enjoyed Niko because he was a different "kind" of character, no longer the Italian-American 'guido' type, but a Eastern European expatriate. Hey, whatever works for us :D. The reason I liked Vercetti is because he's funny, doesn't care what other people say/think about him and has an epic Hawaii shirt  May I just also say how awesome it is to see somebody with an Edge avatar, and then below a Rey Mysterio avatar :P.
Guys, Tommy Vercetti is awesome. He was voiced by Ray LiottaIlovegames1992I don't know who Ray Liotta is, but I agree :P. I really wish that we could see him in a new game. Even if he's just an extra character that you can unlock in GTAV, that would be awesome.

Ray Liotta has been in films like Goodfellas and Copland etc
Vice City propbably has the best VO cast in the history of gaming.
Ray Liotta has been in films like Goodfellas and CoplandIlovegames1992He also appeared in an Uwe Boll movie .....along with John Rhys Davies :(

Allow me:Leisure Suit Larry.
F*cking hate the guy.
Also, i f*cking adore Shemue II but the character visuals and character's themselves were piles of poo, with the exception of Joy. So i guess Ryo Hazuki.
Finally, i love KOTOR II with a passion along with KOTOR I but the Exile was a pretty rubbish character.
I pretty much hated Starkiller in the Force Unleashed games.
I also found everyone in Dead Island rather unlikable.
Same here. Everyone fawns over Altair but I thought he was bland, cold and just not very interesting. Ezio is miles better than him.I didn't like altair in the first Assassin's creed.

Deus Ex: HR. Loved the game but Adam Jensen was quite the DBag.
coasterguy65
To be honest he didn't ask for it. Not his fault.

True he didn't ask for the augmentations, but he still didn't need to go around treating people like s*** in his Dirty Harry, meets Neo, meets Batman Dark Knight voice either. :)
Never been to big on Altair but Revelations changed that
Wasn't to big on Cole or Zeke but Infamous 2 changed that
And don't get me started on Sackboy (sarcasm) That damn smile he always has on his face.
Kratos from GOW is the most annoying character of all time. Did he get raped as a child? I thinkhe is also gay.
He comes off as the anoying kid who wants to take revenge on the bullies that beat him up & raped him except that when he does he just gets beat up & raped again. That to me is the character. In the game he can fight gods but i still see him as a weak, annoying, child who is also secretly gay The developers thought they would let you pretend Kratos is actually a bad**s. I know this is quite harsh, its just the way i picture Kratos
The entire Geas of WAR cast. Grunt, Moan, & Roar, Im dumber than a rock, Let's shoot stuff, The end.
John Marsden from RDR. I dont know why. Maybe its his raspy voice. Just wasnt feeling the character.

You were doing so well until you hit Gears.
But then you are a fan of Sam Fisher so god knows what i should think of your opinion :?
John Marston from RDR. I dont know why. Maybe its his raspy voice. Just wasnt feeling the character.brucecambellI think I know why. Marston is practically a wuss: he walks up to someone and the conversation goes like this: Marston: "You must tell me where Williamson is!" Other guy: "Or what?" Marston: "Huh... I don't know man, but things are gonna be bad for you and stuff... if you don't!" Other guy: "Right lol, well do this impossibly dangerous mission for me, then do five more of them and MAYBE I'll tell you what you need to know" Marston: "Ok... deal..." I love RDR but man, what a twit.

Well that happens with almost every protagonist doesnt it?
