Having been playing through Demon's Souls, I've been reminded how much I love games were you can explore. Not necessarily open-world, but just ones where there's always something new or unexpected to find around the corner.barkera0If you're into dungeon crawls you might want to take a look at Torchlight. Several members of the development team were involved in making Diablo II, and although you're basically going through the mines below the town Torchlight, I'm having a blast just wandering through the tunnels and coming across random loot and fishing holes, with no idea what will be on the next level. (Plus, the pet feature is awesome.)
I was going to say Red Dead Redemption but your list makes me think you don't dig shooters very much. I say Red Dead since it really does have that layer of exploration in it. Here's a couple of things you could do.
>There are challenging treasure hunts you could try
>Find random strangers that offer a mini quest you could venture outside of the main story
>Minigames are littered throughout the game world
>Random scenarios unfold in many areas of the game(man robs store, man tries to kill lady) its all up to you if you want to help
I still haven't discovered everything in the game but I highly recommend it for someone who likes exploring.
Wind Waker no doubt, so many islands and so many secrets, it's like a haven for explorers.Im_singleYup, that's why I loved it! :D
I'd add Okami to that list. I love to explore and check up on NPCs to see if there's anything new going on. Believe or not, one of the reasons Star Wars series was popular was because of the world and setting. It gave so much depth to the stories for you could learn many things about characters, cities and events that take place in that world.
You already mentioned Elder Scrolls. The Fallout series is based on exploration as well. So much too find and do.
Just Cause 2.
You will get bored and hate the game long before you get close to the Perfectionist trophy which by the way only requires that you do 75%.
Stalker (only played the first but explored the crap out of it)
Bully
Super Mario sunshine(I liked extra stars and exploring the hubworld)
If you don't like shooters then I guess platformers, rpgs, and adventure games would be your best bet. Do you like point and click adventure games? That's a massive genre that, if you can get past graphics and dated tech, would overwhelm you with options.
