They have some bad apples who seem to rate parts of the game at random. Glowing reviews will then get horrible ratings. Don't even mention their video reviews which are some of the worst.
The site needs to get some new talent who knows how to write, make a rating that makes sense with their review, can talk in front of a camera, and actually play the game long enough to give a solid review.

That's the case with every general gaming site ever, though.
Personally, I'd be happy if just they gave exposure to the quality obscure titles instead of completely ignoring them. Just look at the buzz that the Braid review created on the forums. If they could just give proper reviews and exposure to unknown masterpieces like Aquaria, it would be a great start.
yes, gamespot reviews are awful.

Im not saying they are good I said they are starting to get thing properly! I agree with everything that was writen here!!!
The Immortals of Terra: A Perry Rhodan Adventure review was awful and unnecessary (Gamespot reviews so little PC games that it boggles my mind that they can find the time to bash on the adventure genre in poorly written reviews that nobody ever reads because the games all score 5.0), World of Goo still hasn't gotten one, King's Bounty: The Legend is never getting one, etc. Nope, Gamespot still sucks at reviewing.ReddestSkiesDoes anyone even care about those games?

No offense but I've never heard of those games and I'm sure most people who visit here could care less about World of Goo
That's exactly the point I'm making. If Gamespot actually reviewed the obscure games that its reviewers would like instead of concentrating on bashing obscure adventure games (lol pleonasm) in reviews that nobody would ever read (because they all get low scores), people like you would start caring. Those games definitely deserve proper exposure on mainstream gaming sites.
World of Goo > you favorite 2008 game, btw. Google it, play the demo, love it, buy it. ^_-
Btw reddest skies.... is that game any good? Im still waiting for sinking island.

Haven't played it yet. Definitely plan on picking it up eventually, though. I haven't played a game with an in-depth sci-fi story since forever.

I am definitely saving a link to this quote.
Gamespot is a very good website for a lot of things (eg- forums, gameguides, videos...etc) but Reviewing definately isnt one of them. I think the gamespot reviews are atrociously inconsistent, biased, late, and generally just wrong. They also don't even review some games, and they need to do more video reviews. And i hate the increments of 0.5- why did they dumb it down!!??mhsdrake
Yeah, Gamespot was once a reliable source for reviews, but that was before all the experienced journalists left! It's very disappointed to see this site fall so hard..but it's too bad.

Well, now we know that at least two people read them.
I think GameSpot right now has a very real problem of being understaffed and the PC is feeling it the most. There's Brett Todd and Kevin V and...that's it. I'll welcome any adventure game review even when they are negative (Nikopol). But yeah, I see what you're saying, it's mind-boggling that King's Bounty: The Legend wasn't reviewed. Even some PC reviews of multiplatform games are a no show (Dead Space).
