So Gamespot changed the leveling rules, and the new rules make it so that adding legacy games to your collection, reading legacy reviews, or reviweing legacy games gives you no points whatsoever. This means that what most people do here, no longer is meaningful in GS anymore. Sad Face. But you can level up with blogs, although worth less points now, posts, logging in, posting comments on articles, rating games, and beng followed by other users. So it might make you think twice about posting collection links or revewing legacy games (Which commenting on does not give you points either apparently.)

Sad indeed. I come here to talk with you great folks so the point system is not any importance to me. Appreciate the time for letting us know.

Not really, I review games because I like reviewing, I post because I like posting and talking about games. I stopped caring about levels around Level 15 :P

Lame. I come here for the legacy forums and reviews and stay to discuss 3DS and watch reviews for new games. I was kinda wondering why I was leveling up slower. I figured they were just having another glitch.

Watching videos doesn't level you up anymore either apparently.

Uploading videos don't work either. After 5 fails in trying to upload my guitar cover of 'Eyes on Me', I learned the hard way -__-)

Man, if you don't care that you no longer get points for watching Greg Kasavin tramp through GBA reviews, there is no helping you.

The levels are completely arbitrary, they mean nothing.

I could give a flying, hairy, ratty **** about this site or the people who own it. YOU, are the important part of this website. And YOU, and YOU too! GameSpot U.S. is the pits. They can't keep a podcast in production, they don't care when HTML or other posting problems occur... The ONLY thing that matters on this site is GAMERS...

Who really cares about this website? It doesn't really care much about US.

I post here because of folks like Emerald_Warrior, and Darkman2007... The site honestly just ain't that great. So, take away ALL "leveling". As long as quality gamers keep coming back, I'll keep my worthless *** coming back too.

I also think levels don't matter. I come here for the forums more than anything really. Sometimes I read things from higher level users that are just absurd while I will read things from newer members that make great points. I am not going to hold their levels against them.

How's that discouraging collections, just because we don't level up for it? Everyone knows collections are for shoving in each other's face and saying, "Look! I have this game! This super rare game!" :P

So long as you are a high enough level to do what you want (make threads, make x posts per hour, etc), why would anyone care what level they are on a website?

Legacy forum users don't care about getting a higher score!? This is baffling. Please go play games on your iPads while the rest of us discuss this issue.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever played a video game for a 'high score'. But, then again, my first game was Zelda on the NES. So that kind of framed my future gaming expectations (story, adventure, etc). I never got into those old school arcade games that were score driven (just keep going and going after a score and not really an ending of some sort).

What was to purpose of having "levels" to begin with? Gamespot discouraging collections? I didn't know that they cared, or didn't care. or care now. Or in the past? maybe Gamepot will care in the future.

I always thought GameStop didn't care, but Spot doesn't either.. sigh

It's pretty freaking obvious that they either don't care or just don't have a clue what they're doing. Glitch after glitch after glitch. And no one here seems bothered enough to do anything about it.

^the glitches...now there is something worth b*tching about as they actually affect everyone's enjoyment of the site. IMO, levels are good so far as the restrictions are concerned (need to have been around at least a little while to post pics, make threads, post x times per hour). This is more for the things they try and prevent than anything else. But once you get to the required level, they could cap it for all I care.

I'm an old-dog around these parts...

:P

... The REAL content of this site IS often user-created, I would rather read Darkman's opinions & technical expose composition about a game ANY day over a lot of the paid content. Carolyn P. is a great reviewer and I think she's one of the better writers on the site, but beyond that I'm really let down by the US-side. The Aussies and the Brits have the best podcasts, they have for the last few years... Why the US writers can't keep one going for more than a year is ridiculous... I do a podcast, it's not rocket science, and they have a budget, and producion facilities...

*sigh*

Thank Jah for the Brits, and Laura Parker is a HOTTIE!!!
