gamespot needs to do a better job at keeping the forums spam free

when a spam thread isn't deleted within 11 days of being created link to spam Xbox forums it's a problem. basically if you're not in system wars spam threads can stay up for days and if spam is posted incognito in a legitimate thread it can appear to never get deleted, does the flag option even do anything? Their is the option of contacting the moderators but I don't feel like troubling them unless it's a spam invasion or something really bad.

Just a idea but GameSpot could bring back the option when you flag a comment/thread it makes you give a reason and if you choose spam and it's a new user it takes only 3-5 flags for that post to become invisible until it's reviewed or deleted, or people who have a good track record of not abusing the flag system their flags would get prioritized.

i think half the mods have left, the other half don't seem to spend much time on the boards. gs is in bad need of some new mod blood.

but i genuinely don't think the people in charge of the website care about the quality of the forums. that was all too evident after the disastrous redesign of '13 and very little has changed since, other than an exodus of decent users

We are working the best we can to keep on top of the spam, tickets, and keeping an eye on the general on goings on the website. There is a lot to cover so we sometimes miss things. You can help us out by shooting us a message at the link here, these are normally responded to quicker than we can work through flag tickets.

People also seem to randomly get banned and I have yet to find out why my account since I had since 2006 got banned.
