They like to rip you off so much because that's what they make most of their profit from. With new games, they make profit on them but a significant chunk of it goes to the publisher, developers, etc. With used games, they keep all the money they make from those sales, so the less they spend buying used games, the more money they make.
I've stopped buying used games because developers don't see a dime.
market price is where supply meets demand... on both the retail and wholesale charts... they buy it for the wholesale price because someone is willing to sell it for that price... they sell it for the retail price because someone is willing to buy it for that price... how does that make it a "ripoff"...
remember every purchase is a gamble on their part that they can later sell it for a price that will cover the cost of paying the employees, running the store, and paying the stockholders a dividend... if they lose that gamble, then they close, and everybody looses...
Man just go to a pawn shop, you'll get more money regardless of the game. I sold Madden 2002 for $15.
