Why doeseveryone keep on saying GameStop employees are mean? I know their trade-in policy isn't that good, but it's not the employee's fault. All of the GameStops near me, there isn't one rude one in the bunch.

It's like last week. My PS2 finally broke and I tole a gameStop employee about this and he said to just bring it in. So I did and he just exchanged it with one of the used ones in the back. He exchanged it with one with a network adapter (because I had one on my PS2). The only he had with a network adapter on it, also had a travel screen on it (so you can play it in your car). He told me to just keep it. I said ok. When I finally played it, I found out it hadthe hard drive in it. So out of all of this the GS employee gave me a free travel screen and a hard drive.

Well I wouldnt call them mean but they can be smart asses when they want to be. When I bought Halo2 a few years ago I asked the guy behind the counter when DOA Ultimate was coming out. He said I should just go home and smack some barbie dolls together cause it would be the same thing. I knew he was joking but since I actually liked that game I thought it was a pretty rude comment to make.

I think most of the animosity towards GameStop is about their corporate policies more than their employees. Like anywhere else, the employees are a mixed bag... some helpful, some annoying, some apathetic.

The ones in my local area are a mixed bag at the same store. Some are a bit smartass about things but they know I work in retail too so they are generally nice to me out of solidarity.

Dude, I've met jacks of one trades from Gamestops and EB Games. Some are really cool, some are straight Silence of the Lambs-a holes, some are "by the books."

Anyway I see it, it's a job, and sometimes people forget it.

I've always found them much more annoying than mean. I can even handle the smart remarks, but the constant harping on Pre-Orders and Gamercards (even if it is company policy) is annoying.

Well if you'd plop down the 15 bones for the discount card and preorder Halo 3 like you know you're going to, you wouldn't have any troubles.

It's not that GameStop employees are mean, it's that the whole institution is crap, and while they are just doing what they have to do to keep their job, ordinary people like you and me do not deserve to put up with their corporate heckle, and sometimes, disgruntled attitude.

From the many employees at gamestop that I have met I would have to say that most are helpful and nice. Most of the ones that I would rather get hit in the balls than talk to either get fired for saying or doing something stupid are don't like working there to begin with so they quit. The gamestop near me has one of the coolest managers I have ever met, me and him actually talked for a good amount of time on some of the cool new games coming out and even though he isn't up to date with everything he still was very well informed of the majority of my questions. I really think it depends on where you live but to be honest almost every store is bound to have a Smart *** or jerk working for them and gamestop is no different.
