So I decided to go and pick up my RESERVED copy of Prototype for the PC today at my local Gamestop, only to find out they don't have it. But it gets even better. They have it in Mass amounts for 360 and PS3, but non efor PC despite me having it preordered. Their explantion was that I was the only one to want it on PC and they had the other platform's versions overnighted. I don't buy that at all, if I have something preordered, it BETTER BE THERE. AAAAHHHH I'm so mad right now, today was my day off too, I was really looking forward to playing this...

I don't know if shelf space is limited (wouldn't shock me with all those big plastic guitars scattered around) but my local Gamestop isn't the place to go for obscure games that it used to be.

When I tried to pick up a copy of Crimson Gem Saga the day after its releasethey told me they never heard of the game, then looked it up and said yes, it was out but they hadn't gotten any copies.

I wound up going through Amazon (got it yesterday, haven't spent enough time with it to post meaningful impressions) though Gamestop.com had it in stock (though none of its physical locations in a 100 mile radius did).

Or you could just get it for 360/PS3...or wait till they get the PC version.

Seriously man just because 1 store didn't have a PC version of a game all of a sudden the whole chain fails?

Are you done know? Seriously get your money back or just wait its not the end of the world, grow up a little, your sounding like a little kid.

It's now, not know. I find it completely understandable that this used is mad. I would also be mad if I were to go out and pre order something and they don't have it in the day they're suppose to. Especially if it was a game that I was really looking forward to.

I certainly sympathise with your situation. I think anybody in your situation would be disappointed.

However, what is Gamestop's pre-order policy? Do they guarantee release date delivery or do they guarantee to hold the game for you once they receive it?

I don't know if anyone has really sat down to read the legal jargon behind their pre-order policy. Perhaps we're just setting ourselves up to be disappointed by a promise Gamestop never made.

Personally, I don't pre-order very many games. I also don't set my expectations on release dates.

This is an important point. They might not be able to help when they get the games, and if they have a huge demand for some versions and only a few of another, you can't really blame them for triage.

That and how does this mean it's gamestops fault? I didn't realize they had their own shipping service.

im not suprised i picked up my copy today, (360 version) and i saw a huge stack of 360 and ps3 versions but no PC, maybe gamestop has a grudge against pc gamers? but still you preordered it and it should of been there..just go ask for your money back, give em hell man.

Personally never had a problem with Gamestop though it pisses me off that they always make it seem like the game will be at the store one day earlier which is annoying. But yes I too would be upset if my game did not come in.

Gamestop is nothing but a mess. The most rude managers and employees you will find in the retail business. Not to mention high prices, terrible trade in value (store credit or money, both are bad) and problems like the one you mentioned. Unfortunately for all of the fellow gamestop haters out there it seems we are being invaded (atleast in my area, Orange county southern california) that all the other game chains (game crazy, game rush, ect..) are going under. This leads me to believe gamestops quality and value will continue to decline and diminish as they build a monopoly or even, IMO, a tyranny.

To this day my gamestop only had 3 copies of Okami (Wii): my preordered copy and two more a few months later. The same can be said for MKWii.

Get your money back. I recommend Gogamer.com. They have never let me down. Also, they have this 48 Madness Sale this are heavily discounted. Its usually older titles but sometimes there are new titles for as much as 50% off.

CarnageHeart

same. They didn't have CGS or Cross Edge. Ended up ordering both through the site and they arrived quickly enough.I think with these obscure JRPGs, they're in limited release anyway, and they usually get nabbed pretty quick.

Otherwise I rather like the gamestop closest to me, and good thing considering there is pretty much no other option for me. But I've stayed to chat with employees a number of times, and they're all pretty knowledgeable. I'm gonna pin this on the store and regional manager, both of whom I've had some pretty good gaming conversations with. Given that they're enthusiastic about games, they probably hire people with the same quality, so the stores near me have always been pretty great places to go. I wouldn't put down (or praise, for that matter)the franchise for thegoings-on at anyfew locations.

Shame to hear about the problems the OP is having. But it wouldn't be the first time i've heard of a game publisher botching the shipping quantities on their PC version. Actually had one time the company owned up to it and refitted the CE as a way of saying sorry. It might not be gamestop's fault, here.

How much you pay? You could order it on STEAM for $49.99 if that is less than the amount you payed to reserve it.

I don't think it is Gamestop's fault. It is the stupid manager's fault for not placing an order. One customer is enough that he/she needed to place an order
