I'll start off by saying I just purchased Bulletstorm, and I love it. My close friends also made the purchase and we have spent many an hour with Anarchy mode. It is a ton of fun, but what I really miss is sitting in someones basement on a Friday night, crowded around a TV with friends, all playing our favorite games. I feel like this is a lost concept anymore, with very few games giving people that opportunity. I feel like the only games that allow it are fighting games and sports games, along with the few shooters that allow split screen play. What does everyone else play with their friends and family while all in the same room? On another note, my two favorite games at the moment are Bulletstorm and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. Mostly because of the ability it gives you to "compete" against your friends on your own time, with things like leaderboards and the Autolog. I would love to see this kind of a concept more in games that come out in the future. Your thoughts?

My Wii, Halo: Reach and Guitar Hero are the (platform) games I play on locally with friends.

This was something I used to really enjoy, but aside from the occasional game of Halo I haven't done it in a while. Most of the people I used to game with have moved though.

The world of D&D, mtg and such things with a group gathered in a room got a change with the many online games. For me half those friends live now in different parts of the Country. The one thing that can maybe bring a little of that back is using some of the voice chat programs. Some of us still to this day get together and pop jokes etc while coordinating a group attack or something on others. In some things is almost a must, big group quests and such.

i used to do that all the time. people grow up, have less time, and more specifically have less time to spend together.

i live down the street from a buddy and i still occassionally (few times a week) walk down to his house to play some wii and drink a few beers. nothing serious, usually just play a random game.

I first started out gaming with Quake/UT on the PC so I'm pretty used to not playing with friends together. I think the last time I played video games with a friend around the same TV was on Fifa last year, but before that probably on Tekken 3 for the Playstation which was about 11 years ago  .

I enjoy gaming with friends, but I like gaming alone on some good single player game more than anything.

My friends and I get together here and there to still game, normally we play games like COD or Halo split screen or online. Castle Crashers, Fighters, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, and now with games on the Kinect like Sports, Dance Central, things like that.

We'll sometimes get together and head over to the arcade and compete with Soul Caliber, and Rush. I usually always team up with one 'em and take on Metal Slug.

Normally when I'm at home by myself and I'm online that's when I just like to go solo.

@TC, nothing really. Back in the SD tvdaysof last gen it was how socialgaming was done. As I've aged I've gotten more personal. Abunch of dudes getting toxicated and rand sacking my fridge isn't even a thought anymore. They can game from their domicile and I can game in my skibbies. (its a win win)

Most games in splitscreen suck. It's either the framerate goes to crap or some other technicaly snafu or we get black bars on either side of the image. (which is garbage) The only good, heck great, splitscreen game this gen is Gears of War.Everything else wasn't meant to be played splitscreen IMO...

Halo's ss is pretty good, and can handle up to four players. Though, yeah, GeoW split screen is great.

Gaming with friends is the reason I bought a PSP and a DS. My brother, and most of my friends have one or both systems, so we get a lot of the same games and play together. Usually it's Monster Hunter, Pokemon, or Phantasy Star, but we just got DQ IX which is a blast four player. Social gaming is one of my favorite aspects of gaming in general, to be honest talking to friends over a headset from miles away doesn't have the same draw as playing split screen right next to each other, spilling each others drinks and screen-peeking without shame.
