In June, I'll be going with my brother and sister (both 5) to visit our grandparents. The plane ride will be from 7AM to 4PM - right when they're at their most active. To make my life easier, I've decided to give them my old GBA. They're not quite ready for Castlevania, Final Fantasy, etc., so I'm looking for a game for them to play. I'd like an edutainment game along the lines of LeapFrog or Jumpstart. Most of the little-kid games on GBA, however, are platforming-oriented, and that's NOT what I want. Any suggestions?

Don't do it man, portable gaming at such a young age will ruin their eyes. Bring some Dr seus books instead, or a portable DVD player with like some kids cartoon like the lion king, or tarzan or something. Maybe something by Pixar.

l0ve, I'm not too keen on it, either. But it's only for the one plane ride, and they'll drive me crazy if I don't give them a new toy.

As for what everyone else suggested, I don't think they'll be able to figure out the strategy in Pokemon; they'll probably just use Tackle all the time and watch the animations. Besides, my mom will kill me if I give them anything short of edutainment. The Hamtaro game sounds like a good suggestion; it's cheap, too, so I might just buy it and see if my sister can figure the puzzles out.

I found a game about a turtle named Franklin. It seems to be what I'm looking for - play learning games and make friends! But I haven't found a single review for it...

Nope, it's edutainment. When you browse Gamespot, it shows up as one of the game categories. It includes stuff like Professor Layton and Brain Age. That's for the DS, though; the GBA seems a little short on these types of games.
