Well at work I'll usually end up needing to wait to get picked up, and I'll have 5 minutes-ish(or even an hour sometimes sadly)

to wait. I need a game that I can play in a few minutes, then save.

Like castlevania for example won't work because you have to walk around looking for a save spot, and you won't get far only playing a few minutes.

super monkey ball jr

drill dozer

sonic advance(1-3)

gunstar super heroes

was wondering if any of these fit my needs. or even if they have a "pause, then hit save" thing that can be used any time.

monkey ball junior fits your situation the best, as it really is a 5 minutes and go sort of game, you can beat levels (depending on your skill) anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute, heck if I remember correctly the levels were even timed so theres no possible way you could be stuck playing it for more then a minute or two.

I'm pretty sure the Sonic Advance games save after every level, so they should work for you

Pokemon games allow you to save anytime you want, outside of battles. These games can give you something to do for quite a long time as well, since they can easily run 30+ hours.

I'd just like to add to this.

The only tim the Pokemon games really require any sort of time commitment is in boss fights, and even then, 10-15 minutes should be enough.

They are great pickup and play games

Pokemon is probably the best. It's really addicting to. You might also want to try some arcade compilation games. I'm a big fan of FPSs so I recommend this when ever asked about GBA games but doom. Its a pretty good port and because its doom its pretty intense. First play through the levels should take anywhere from 2 to 10 mins. (in the first episode of 3) and you can save after each level but when you get into the higher levels theres a little more strategy needed and more puzzle solving and searching.
