It's not easy, but try playing it coop that helps a lot if you have a buddy or anyone online to play it with.

Personally I found them to be pretty much the same. Gears 2 was significantly longer than #1 though.

What difficulty are you playing on?

Gears 2 has 4 difficulty setting instead of the originals 3. 2 has 'Casual' which i think is slightly easyier than 'Normal' of the first game, which I think was the easiest setting.

first thanks everybody for your input:D

i was playing on the easiest level and couldn`t get to grips with aiming them throwing grenades to close them holes the baddies came from and kinda gave up in the end.

but i completed fallout 3 numerous times so maybe ive found that the rpg genre is more my level perhaps?

Gears 2 is definitely more your thing then as, in the later levels anyway, there are very few "holes" you have to destroy. Were you holding the aim button down until the line showed exactly where you wanted the grenade to go?

Anyway, if you do get Gears 2 (pretty cheap now) feel free to add Psycho Chickan as a friend and we can go thru it together (Aus TZ is the only potential drawback if you're not on a similar TZ). Heaps of fun and less frsutrating for you now that a friend can help :)

Another game worth trying would be Mass Effect. Not as fluid as Fallout 3 but it's an RPG FPS hybrid type game that can be fun.

I'm not sure how you could struggle on the easiest setting unless you never really got the hang of the controls. I mean geez you can survive 95% of the game without even going into cover if you have it set on easy.

I'd definitely say go through it with a buddy. It's a hell of a lot easier that way, even on the hardest difficulty.

Gears 2 had more cheap, bullet-sponge enemys than the first one in my opinion.

I found Gears incredibly easy. I'm not just saying that Others have been saying otherwise.

Here's my Gears of War Campaign Strategy:

Step 1: Hide in cover

Step 2: Shoot at enemies.

Step 3: Hide when you are being shot at.

Step 4: Move to next area when all enemies are meat chunks.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 1-4.

Step 6: You have completed the game! Now play a Better game!

Oh yeah, when you finish the campaign. Avoid the multiplayer like theplague. Seriously.

I'm guessing Faerun isn't a gears fan, lol.

It sort of introduces a good point though. Did you enjoy playing Gears of War 1? If so then you should definitely get #2, if not then don't bother as there's little difference in the game mechanics. There are a few more "vehicle" stages, it's a lot longer and has stuff like horde mode and stuff in it. Plus #2 has a much better coop mode (your allies actually help heal now!!!!).

Both are great games IMO but, as with the other posts, I didn't find them to be particularly hard. Make sure you play it usinga "cover and shoot" type strategy and not "run and gun". Running and gunning might work well in many FPS games but in Gears it can be damaging.

I found GOW2 on hardcore a lot easier than GOW hardcore... the ability to move while down helped a lot.
