One of the things I've always loved to do when playing video games is use some cheat code or some cheat device like action replay. I know it's makes games way too easy, but I do it because I just wanna have fun. Besides, no matter how much I love to cheat in video games there is one thing I refuse to do when it comes with cheating, and that's doing it online. I don't play multiplayer as much as anyone (maybe rarely), but even I know multiplayer is meant to be fun for people and I rather not ruin other people's fun. Hell I wouldn't be happy either, so my only rule for cheating in games is do it on single player only.

So is cheating in video games not something most people like? Because I know multiplayer is one of the biggest reason, but I hear people also hate cheaters even on single player because something about ruining the experience or something (not really sure on this one). I'm starting to think this is why video games seem to have less cheat codes or some cheat device like action replay because most people hate cheating in video games. And to think it used to be fun messing around with something like invinciblility or infinite ammo and such.

Cheating is fun on single-player, when it comes to multi-player, I hate cheaters.

I only use cheating as a reward once I have finished the SP. For example in Uncharted series on my 3rd or 4th playthrough I unlock the power weapons and or one hit kills just for fun.

The thing I don't like about cheating in games, is that it takes out the goal, the achievement hunt, the dream pursuit!

For example, say at some point in a game, you have to have 100 of the game's currency to buy something so that you can advance, what is your goal at that point of the game? your goal is to collect 100 currency, however use a trainer or some cheats, and you get yourself 100 currency without so much as moving you character 1 meter, now what is your goal? What are you actually TRYING to achieve? Nothing. You're not even trying.

However, I don't mind anyone cheating in their own single player experience, I don't find it wrong at all, it's your game, and if that's how you're enjoying it, then that might be how you're supposed to be playing it. Multiplayer cheating on the other hand, is a completely different story.

I am not a fan of cheating but there is a different between cheating and using other type of tactics like ambushing.

Video games are all about having fun. If you have fun while cheating then go for it.

Used to love to cheat, now it seems to downplay the game. It's like, yeah I could enjoy myself working for something, but it's hard to enjoy if you know that you could totally put in a code and not have to do any repetative tasks. But there is a certain joy in doing those tasks, but only if they are worth doing.

If people want to cheat in singleplayer they can go on ahead for all I care, because it doesn't affect me. Start cheating in a multiplayer game I'm in and I'll want to kick your ass.

i only cheat if i know something literally cant be done. im a bit of a completionist sometimes. ill give an example.Deus EX HR on pc. you can get a mod to add a cheat menu that was present in the E3 "PS3 demo" of the game i used this to get through two sidequests that were impossible due to uncommon game bugs. so i simply laoded them up and then auto-completed. from their i generally would only do it if i know im in a bind. ill try suicide runs before i cheat thats how much of a chance i give the "your doomed" situations.

the only other time i cheat is if the game developers put it in the game intentionally such as infinite ammo in saints row 3

I remember the good old days on GTA San Andreas and the large list of cheats available, but I'm kind of glad you can't cheat on most games now. However, cheating in multiplayer is unacceptable and anyone should be banned for ruining others experiences online. I don't have an issue with cheating in single player, though I wouldn't do it.

For myself i can only say i hate cheating. But only in the first 2 or 3 playthroughs depending on the game after that i think using trainers can prelong a game because its fun to go crazy without having to fear timelimits or health levels.

I enjoyed using Game Genie on my Nintendo when I was a kid and I've never been one to balk at using an in-game, developer created cheat code, like those found in Grand Theft Auto games. Beyond this, I don't see the point in cheating and I especially don't like it when the game that is being cheated has multiplayer. For example, whenever someone told me they wanted an Action Replay for Pokemon I always felt like they were cheating themselves and the people they wanted to play/trade with.
