Yes 64%
No 36%

There's those that maintain a healthy lifestyle.

On the other hand though, there's those that don't.

Picked "no" because many Speed-Runners have shown to be in reasonable good health. And tend to prepare for playing such hours in advance.

It's no different to preparing for a Fighting game Tournament, MOBA events, and professional FPS Death Match competitions.

Assuming people who take gaming to another level have to be unhealthy, is a tad stereotypical, and an outdated assumption.

So long as they prepare for it and tend to health concerns I see no issue. That's not to state all Speed-Runners take care of themselves.

@Black_Knight_00:Fulltime would me at least 38hours a week.

@speeny: as long as they are healthy (mentally and physically), and it pays the bills. But people who play fulltime, when it doesn't pay the bills tend not to be so healthy.

It wasn't difficult to process honestly, and surprised how few here understood the topic.

During my teens I would speedrun Resident Evil games, not a record holder but had a lot of fun doing it :) I lack the time now to try diving back in.

Speed-Runners of now have it pretty good, they can get funding through things like Patreon and Streaming services so more Gamers do it now than ever before. Some even make a decent living out of it.

I can't relate to the enjoyment that people get from speed running. It just seems like a waste of time and silly to me.

@BassMan:

I think if you're passionate about the game of a whole, than it could be pretty rewarding.

But I reckon I'd just become tired of playing it over and over again.

Why can it be bad? If you have other full-time job, is it unhealthy for you?

It is usually kind of overboard and nuts. I remember watching a group of speedrunners live once, and they broke a game down to a boring science. Like okay, maybe you enjoy it? But unless there is some reward in the game for doing it, and it's just for personal challenge, it's kind of lame.
