My genesis (model 2) has two connection issues. First is the power supply. If up even silty bump it, the system turns off. The second is with the controller. The A and B buttons do not usually work. If I giggle the connection alot, I may get it to start working for awhile. While I realize it may be easier to just buy a new one, I'd rather see of I can fix it so I better know what Im doing in case something like my Neo Geo starts acting up. Any advice?

The power issue is pretty common with Genesis's. Mine has the same problem, I simply just rest something else on top of it where it plugs into the console and it fixes it, I use a power-plug to the SNES, ironically enough. If that doesn't work then I'd suggest just buying another Genesis, since they can be found so cheap.

Make sure it's the adaptor and not the power jack. There's a very common problem with power jacks on the Model 2's becoming loose. The only thing that holds the power jack onto the board is it's own solder joints, and over time the stress from plugging and unplugging the adapter will loosen the jack from the board and create an intermittency. If it is the jack that's the problem, the only way to fix it is to re-solder the joints on the mother board under the jack.

thats sega for you , ive had power problems with my sega cd and my sega gen model 2 , also the dc has controller port issues if using a 3rd party controller- it blows the ports, -no other console i know has these problems

so my advice is either 1-get a new unit or 2 deal with it ,

for dc simple advice dont use 3rd party controllers or accesories !

i gave up on sega cd my self , i had 2 blow entirely , just using the genesis now

another issue i noticed with the sega genesis , the sound on some games brings static to the tv , sonic 2 is a big offender on that one ,

Are you saying that snes adapters work with genesis es (genesi ?) if so I can try that since I have an extra one. I'm pretty sure the power supply in the unit is what isloose, but it's with a try.

No. I'm saying I rest a SNES power plug on top of the Sega Genesis Power Cord where it plugs into the Sega Genesis Console, that way it holds it in place and it doesn't blink off.
