What are some genres that you would really like to get into but can't for some reason? For me, I would like to get into RPG's. I like the genre, but commitment to other things prevents me from getting into them. On top of that, it takes me a while to get into a game; RPGs require some effort to get into. However, once I get into an RPG I notice that I can't it down. I even make efforts  to complete unnecessary side quests.

What about you? What genres do you want to play more but can't?

Strategy RPGS and squad shooters. They must be awesome, but I just cannot get into them. Oh and WRPGs, those inventory menus kills me.

Music games...looking for buttons on the screen to tell me to press them at the right just seems really boring to me. I'd rather learn how to play a real instrument or really learn how to dance.

I would really like to get into MMORPG's, but I just can't bring myself to pay a monthly fee. Once I pay that monthly fee and install the game, I'm just going to be surrounded by little annoying kids and be told that I have to grind for hours to make it anywhere in the game.

Once they make one that is worth spending the money on and it's well balanced and there is no need for grinding, I will try to get into them.

I would love to get into FPS like Halo or Bioshock. I just don't have the time for Halo. I remember when Bond 007 was huge on the 64 and I was to busy playing Zelda and all my friends got really good at it and I sucked and still suck. I dunno I can't see myself investing the time to really enjoy an FPS. Working 50 hours a week and have a wife kinda hinders me on that department. Anyways I guess I will stick with my RPG's for now...

Fighting games would be it for me.

Most fighting games I want to get into, I simply don't have anyone to play with to hone my skills and get really involved with it. I love them, but I can never get deeply into them as much as I want due to that reason. That's why I've given up on playing Virtua Fighter 5.

Same gnere. But y problem with fighting games is that I grew tired of them. I wish they would turn into beat them ups and we'd fight in long levels.

I'd like to try some RTS games, but whenever I have to deal with resource management, it feels more like work than a game.

I'd also like to try MMORPG's, but the grinding is too much to commit to. Also, if I was paying a monthly fee, I'd feel like I should be playing it all the time to justify the cost.

Squad shooters and stealth games. There are lots of great games in these genres but I can never seem to get into them.

Stealth and MMORGs.

Stealth can be overkill if done too much. But I think if it's done right and is only a small but important part in games, it could be fun.

MMORGs...don't want to pay to play. I have enough trouble saving up to buy games.

Stealth too. I enjoy stealth when it's incorporated into a game at certain parts, but not when it's most of the game. I want to attack. I have played through MGS2 and 3 and one reason I didn't like them as much as others is because I can't get used to constant stealth. I often found myself just saying screw it and attacking enemies anyway.

Also turn-based strategy. It's weird because I have a lot of fun with CivIV when I play every once in a while, but I have never seemed to been able to get into any othersand I'm not sure why.

Serious Sim or management games. I remember buying Railroad Tycoon 3 and being really excited about getting into it but I just gave up just an hour or two after I started playing it. Also thought i'd enjoy Microsoft Flight Simulator. I was very wrong.

Tycoon/building games, the concept always sounds great, but when I actually start playing the game, I grow tired of itvery fast. I've tried plenty of such games, from Sim City to the Anno series, but the only one I could get into was, oddly enough, Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis.

Actually, I like stealth in the Metal Gear Solid games. It's stealth perfection and Kojima is just a master at it.

But I'm talking about over-use of stealth in games like Shadow of Rome for example. It was really unneccessary especially when the combat parts was so good, like Onimushiabut in Rome.

Although I love the MGS games, however, I don't like the Splinter Cell games. I just never got into them for some reason.

JRPGs

I'm really big into games with a great storyline and I'm huge fan of Western RPGs.

I've heard countless times that some JRPG games have some of the best Storylines out there, mainly those by developers like Square and Level 5.....but for some reason I just can't get into JRPGs. Maybe it's because the characters don't appeal to me, or the settings, or even the game design and mechanics.

Even with the upcoming JRPG games, I'll be the first to say upcoming JRPGs like White Knight Story and Last Remnant look really cool and promising....but I just dont picture myself playing them.

RTS games. Ever since the original Dune 2 by Westwood Studios, I've been trying to get into the genre, but it just seems too fast and fiddly for me. Give me Civilization or HOMM any day of the week.
