I know there are probably 100 other topics like this but since gamespot's search bar sucks im gonna have to make a new topic.

So which is better? and please make detailed comparisons w/ good and bad points about each game

if it has to do w/ preference, im a fan of hard rock but i wont let that sway me unless its really close

GH:WT = 3 Tool songs: Vicarious, Parabola, and Schism. Also, a Tool tribute venue.

RB2 = no Tool songs.

'nuff said.

The one thing that has always made Rock Band superior to Guitar Hero is the charts for the songs. In Guitar Hero you are given a lot of charts that are meant to make you feel like you are "shredding" instead of actually playing a real guitar. Guitar Hero started out fine in the first iteration but lost it in the second. They put too much emphasis on making charts "hard" by making them messy. I can tell you, from an experienced music game player (IIDX, DDR, DJMAX), that messy charts aren't hard, they are just stupid.

In Rock Band you get the feeling that you are actually playing the instrument in your hands as if it were real. You don't feel like you are playing a plastic toy. The same thing goes for the drums. All the charts in Rock Band are definitive and musical, all the notes and chords feel like they serve a purpose and aren't just there to pad up the difficulty.

When it comes down to it, "fun" in music games is playing music well, playing it accurately and playing songs that are fun.

Through the Fire and Flames is not fun, it is Dragonforce, it is fast for the sake of being fast and messy for the sake of being messy. You can't play it well or accurately since it is rumoured that the band speeds up their tracks in the studio for the effect. So it is never really "fun" except for the people who haven't experienced real music games like IIDX or DDR. Games where accuracy counts.

Rock Band 2 is going to be superior to GHWT for one other reason though... and that's being able to get the entire Rock Band set list (aside from three songs) along with the new one. So you get over 100 songs for the price of one game.

Why the hell did they put Flo Rida in there? That song has no Guitars in it.

HardQuor

 so true.

But Rock Band is more interesting in general IMO.

Edit: there's not a single song from Aenima on GH though so it looses points for that. And Rock Band does have a better tracklist overall as well.

i'm buying both on their respective release dates, but i'm just going to use the drums and mic from rock band and the wired guitars from guitar hero 2...i'm not going to get caught up in getting the latest instruments, even if that means missing out on some of the special features...

Rock Band 2 is pre-ordered, but I might pick up GH4:WT if I somehow get bored with all the new songs and downloads.

Honestly, though, it's probably not that likely.

What i would do is.Look at both games set-list and instruments and pick the one you like. Then buy the other game later since all the instruments work for each game.

You should rock them both, with all the included music in each game, they are a steal at $60 each for the game alone. Also I've tried the new Rock Band instruments and they are a lot better then the current ones.
