FFVIII/IX and Chrono Cross for the PSX. FFX, Persona 3: FES, and Kingdom Hearts for the PS2. These are probably your best and cheapest options. If you have the money, I suggest purchasing FFVII, Xenogears, and SMT:DDS1&2. Don't puy Persona 1 and 2. I own both, and while they're both good games, they have exorbitant price tags now.
Any of the Final Fantasy titles, any of the Tales titles (except legindia), Wild arms series, Dragon Quest VIII, Altier Iris Eternal Mana, Kingdom Hearts I & II, Xenosaga series, Suikoden series.....god the list could go on. Those are just some of the greats IMO.
