Get hyped! I was really hoping we'd see another GTA this gen.

First Goldeneye 007 Reloaded and two games to be picking up on November 1st, all new Burn Notice episodes on November 3rd (my favorite show currently) and now a GTA annoucement trailer in between? Next week can't get any better! But at the same time, I'm not sure what to expect out of this one. I hope they improve and fix the mistakes they made from GTA IV.
I thought IV was great and that they massively improved on what they had when they made The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. The main game is a little dry, but the episodes are top notch.First Goldeneye 007 Reloaded and two games to be picking up on November 1st, all new Burn Notice episodes on November 3rd (my favorite show currently) and now a GTA annoucement trailer in between? I've never played the episodes yet, but the good news is that I have the complete edition for GTA IV, so I'll eventually get around to them. But as for GTA V, I wonder what they will have in store for us. Also, how long will the trailer be? A short one or a long one? What will it entail? I'm curious already!
Its probably a teaser, I had hoped GTA V to be a launch title for next-gen consoles :( I want Manhunt 3 Rockstar
Holy crap. Shocking. I didnt figure they would go straight to five. Massive news!
Truly hope the PC version arrives on Day 1 and is a big graphical upgrade over GTA4. I'm playing the Episodes right now and while it looks and runs better than console versions, i cant help but feel that im playing a last gen game in HD.
By the time it comes out they will have had four years to work on it. I'm sure it will look better than IV.Holy crap. Shocking. I didnt figure they would go straight to five. Massive news!

Oh my...... I'm going to divorce for this game.....I got lost and drowned playing GTAIV and both expansions as well. The main game is topnotch for me. Niko Bellic is a memorable character. I felt TLAD as a dry episode, but I had so much fun playing TBOGT. :)
I got the music of GTAIV on a CD....and I even managed to pass a red light (with a police ticket of course..... :|) while listening to it.....
My wife HATES and I do mean SHE HATES when she sees me playing with prostitutes (in the game eh !)......I wonder if they're improving that......
Nice. R* trailers are the only ones I'll try to watch "live" as they are released. They sure know how to put on a show.
Agreed, but you can't ask them to increase graphics by a large amount and expect Day1 release. That would mean PC is equal to Consoles... PC will get a crappy port one later most probably. But hey, lets see what LA Norie plays like. Maybe? Rockstar leeds could actually do a good port.Holy crap. Shocking. I didnt figure they would go straight to five. Massive news!

I completely lost interest in GTA IV about halfway through. I don't think it's the formula that has run stale; just that other games have done it better and improved on it. Which ones? Just Cause 2 springs to mind. I'd say it just destroys almost every aspect of GTA IV save for story.
So yeah, while I applaud that another GTA is coming (and it's nice to have developers that take time and release games when they're ready instead of when the shareholders want them), I think I'm just kind of burned out on the whole dude-works-his-way-up-the-underworld-and-becomes-the-man setup of the games. I'm grateful to GTA because without it I'm absolutely positive that Just Cause 2 would've NEVER been made, but for now, I'm just done with the series, assuming there aren't drastic (DRASTIC) modifications to the formula.

Looks like Gamespot just brainfarted. I just DP-ed right now. For the record, DP means double posting, not anything else, pervs. SteelAttack
In your case It's akways a safe bet to assume the perv stuff.
BTW, Thanks for the image....
Is it an announcement trailer or will there be a release date at the end? Would fit nicely under my x-mas tree.
I'm glad to see that we are going to see at least one more GTA this gen. The use of the V suggests a sequel, therefore, any of the cities are possibles. Give me planes, jetpacks and two handed weapons and I will be one content gamer.
Sweet. I was never a real big fan of GTA until GTA IV, I loved that game. I'm really looking forward to seeing this trailer.Archangel3371I loved GTA III and VC but couldn't get into SA. GTA IV is one of my favorite games of this generation, especially the extra episodes. I hope they continue with the smaller and more detailed game worlds.
Definitely looking forward to the trailer. I only wish that maybe, just maybe, we can get a strong female protagonist this time around. The stories have always been interesting, and it'll be entertaing to see a woman lead be able to hang with the big boys in the GTA Universe.
An entirely new city please Rockstar. No Liberty City, Vice City, and especially San Andreas. Never did like San Andreas approach to the cliche gangs of the 90's in typical black american societies.

THey need to get away from the Rockstar formula at this point. I am f***ing sick of taking orders from the scum of planet, murdering innocents and criminals alike just to progress the story. It ruined Bully, GTA4, Red Dead for me so I hope to god Rockstar can come up with something original at this point.
Lost and the Damned started out awesome with Billy flipping out and your missions starting that way, but now im back to taking orders from some lowlife pos again.

How can anything original happen when it's been done to death? What kind of originality would you expect out of a game like GTA?

I dont think a crime drama that unfolds organically has been done just yet in video games. ALL Rockstar games boil down to Go work for this s***head, kill hundreds of people for him, now go for this lowlife pos and bring him some women to rape, and then redemption at the end.... crowd goes crazy. Best game evar!
Let's move past the mission structure/plot device that was barely passable in 2001 and present a coherent story where you are no just a scumbag being a b*** boy for other scumbags.

What do you mean by 'organically'? I don't think you give GTA4 enough credit for its story. At least IMO it did a lot more to make you feel like a free-ish agent in the story than the previous entries in the series. A lot more could be done of course (remove the parts where you only have one mission choice for a starter, ugh) but it was several steps in the right direction. What do you mean by 'organically'? By organically I mean a mission that is a byproduct of the plot. Something that doesn't feel forced like working for Cartel #1, then Cartel #2 and so on. I doubt you've played infamous but it's also an open world game where you have to go to a certain location to trigger a mission, but the missino isn't some guy barking orders at you, the mission is an extension of what had happened earlier in the story and is a direct result of your actions in the mission before it. It feels natural, it feels organic.
THere is nothing natural about doing a mission for the rebels killing the mexian army, then doing a mission for the army killing the rebels. It's f****ing stupid. And makes no sense. I dont want to help an army burn villages and rape women. F*** you, give me a choice instead of forcing me to follow your s***ty orders.
I played GTA4 for around 5 hours. Got sick and tired of answering the phone, taking that girl out on dates and roman out to do whatever the f*** he was doing. By the time i got my first mission i was bored out of my mind. Maybe it has a fantastic story, but when I quit i was following some guy's orders on which lowlife scumbag to kill.
Being forced to restart misssions without checkpoints didnt help either.
