I know this may sound silly to many of you. But is there any1 like me that wont play a game because it would almost be spiritually polluting (cant think of a good way to put it). I'm a christian and I get uncomfortable with some movies/games/music because of things like demonic references or blatant blasphemy. I dont think theres anything wrong with them as long as it doesnt affect you unfortunately they affect me.

Some really good games like Devil may Cry, Bioshock, ninja gaiden etc... I would love to play but cannot. ne1 like me?

I have never felt this way about any game. It is all imaginary and not to be taken seriously from a moral stand point. The only games I even come close to having any ill will towards are games like GTA or games that insert nonartistic violence because they know that KIDS will enjoy it. That being said; I find myself enjoyng some games like this to a certain extent. I usually rent them and have a decent time, but never finish them.

It's not silly in the least. If you really feel that way, then you should refrain from playing those games. Just make sure this is really what you believe, and not some kind of doctrine that's been passed down to you.

I've never felt like that for any religious reason, nor will I being an atheist...but I won't play Call Of Duty 4, even though I know its a great game, because it's not my cup of tea. I wouldn't play or watch a film about something that offended me, or that I didn't like. Like I wouldn't play a game shooting deer or something.

...Although I did play that McDonalds simulation flash game and that felt morally wrong.

I've never really thought like that about a game. It's not silly to feel like that, if it's the way you feel then be true to yourself.

I think he's saying that he can't play FFXII because he doesn't have a PlayStation 3. That's really quite different from what you were asking.

in some part of the world

God of War based on greek mythology or roman i forgot...

any how, the part where he fights with zeus, people actually went crazy

because they thought in this game the main character was fighting almighty god...the god

that christians, jews, and muslims all believe in...

which is not true because he was fighting zeus which is a fictional character...

i would say I wouldn't play a game that has to fight god in it because that is saitanic really...but such

game does not exist...second choice is not to play extreme violent games...manhunt!?

ihate when people think gross means scary...

Yes, there are games that I wouldn't play due to content just as there are movies I wouldn't play due to content. The important thing is you don't put down others for their choices that you might not agree with or falsely elevate yourself for not doing it. There are a lot of 'great' games I seem to be missing out on, but I don't mind it really. There is still plenty out there to keep me interested.

For a while I didnt want to play Dead Rising because of the gratuitous violence in that game. It wasnt a moral issue though.

I play quite a few violent games but they don't really bother me as long as the violence is focused on killing bad guys, monsters, demons, zombies, or other creatures of a fantasy setting. Even though I have played a couple of the Grand Theft Auto games some of the violence in those ones kind of rub me the wrong way such as being able to kill hookers, innocent people, and police officers. It's basically a really sore point I have with the series.

I'm Roman Catholic and I have yet to encounter anything that offends me, it's simply a matter of seperating reality from fictional entertainment.

World of Warcraft, because it gets me addicted :)

Same for Heroes of Might and Magic and Civilization (though I often fall back in my civaddiction)

The thing that baffles me most is why you mentioned those games. I don't recall there being anything anti-religious or demonic about Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, or Bioshock. At least, not more so than your average game. As for me, I won't play World of Warcraft because it seems too nerdy to me. I won't play any new Final Fantasy games because I really loathed FF7 and FF8. Not my cup of tea whatsoever. Also, I avoid most horror games, because quite honestly, I'm scared..

Actually, offensive content in media is rarely intentional. It's how people might interpret it that makes it offensive.

I cant say anything is offensive to me. I am an opoenminded gamer, and further more that all what is considered offensive by the "normal" world is very welcome with me, with that, that the fun is even greater! More blood, more cursing, more cracked skulls, more ppl blown up in explosions, more educational twisted experiments, more paranormal desperate attempts to dominate the world, is all fine with me. I consider the games of a boring content to be offensive. I guess I am a very special individual, in a very very special world of gaming.

I dnt think i'm closed minded gameswise, thats the reason why I recognise that some of these games I dont play are actually good games. Blood, Cursing, cracked skulls etc.. arent necessarilly offensive to me, but the context in which they are used can be. For example if I shoot someone in splinter cell blood would seem perfectly fine so long as its not overdone. But if half the time in a game blood is just squrting everywhere that doesnt really make it more fun for me.

I dont think games without that content are boring either really depends on the games and the person. nopalversion made a good point on inteperating the game on a personal level

While I'm not religiously inspired, I know what you mean. Luckily for me, there are plenty of good games ro substitute the so called "great games" I don't play because I feel uncomfortable. Though, there are only few games I don't play due to that reason, such as that "Bully" game, mafia-like games and the likes of GTA.

If I don't play any "great" games other than the ones I mentioned, then simply because they don't match my taste or preferenes at all or too little.

I positivly agree with you dsgeeno1, it is not necceserly offensive, but the way in wich the contex speaks. Certanly, overly bloody game wont just simply do it, but the accent needs to be placed on it in a clever way. I exactly out of that reason apriciete clever game developers, wich indeed understand what we as gamers of quality desire in our games, and that is not a mindless offensive gameplay, but a clever dinamic inovative one, in wich foes are blasted in a new imaginative way, with out the unnecessery usage of curses, wich are meant to make the game interesting, but they are doing just the opposite, degrading its quality.

i dont mind violence in games (depending on the genre its actually a selling point for me lol)

but after reading someones comment about it being down to interpritation (4got how2 spoll) one thing i noticed about mario galaxy is on the first level there is an egg embedded in a planet. when you reach the egg you smash it open by stamping on it, then you proceed to batter and eventually kill the baby pirahna plant while its still wearing a daiper. personally i found it quite amusing but it still felt wrong lol

I would say World of Warcraft, it is a good game for sure, but I jjust now that if I start playing it it would become an obsession I can't afford to have. I really want to have time for other pursuits.

Wow, could that be a more rediculous and hipocritical statement?!

Anyway, the only series of games I refuse to play are the GTA games. They're too realistic and in my opinion flaunt flat-out bad taste. I have no problem with violence, hell I love playing some of the most violent games out there but the GTA stuff is too close to home. We all know that war is the act of violence so COD and other war shooters are understood, and fantasy shooters like Bioshock remove people from the normal realm of things. GTA however gives too much crossover and for the multitudes of non-mature gamers out there who get their hands on a game like that could have bad consequences.

There are alot of Games i wouldn't play cause I feel as if I'm a child when playing them , games having big size usually good ones , but games with size 200 , 400 , 600 or even 1000 MB may some times be very silly and aimless ,

Games like War Craft I , II, III i consider it sooooooooo silly cause is very fictional.............,,

And small Games 70 MB or less most of them make me depressed just for hearing their names .....

Games like God Of War I , II ,,,, Age Of Empires III , II ,,,,,, UnderGround Series ( I,II, Most Wanted , Hot Persuit ) I ador them ......

In Aion, I would be on the "angels side". No option there. The other faction is an automatic denial, they are the enemy. :P

But that is kinda weird. See, I wouldn't pick a "demon side" in any game ever, no matter what. I can pick the "evil side" on rare occasions, yet I am still "good, yet misunderstood". If the storyline is great fun and all, I could even find it cool to have demon blood or whatever, as the story is entertaining and fun...as anyway, in these games, you still can be "good".

I couldn't accept to summon demons/devils in NWN2, but I have no troubles to use the spell Gate in NWN, as it was merely a monster summoned for a few rounds, rather then something more...

So I guess I am a little like you on this point. :) But again, I see no troubles in many games you name, such as Bioshock, I find the game boring, but the fact he is a junkie isn't annoying me, I just don't relate to the hero at all on this level. (Bioshock kinda feels like Heroine Hero in South Park)
