[QUOTE="wetsandman"]i guess i would say zelda oot. but i guess you can argue that majora's mask is a sequel but you can argue that it isnt.psx2514
Zelda is a series. I said the game cannot be a part of a series.
And Twilight Princess is a spritual successor
Or Conkur's Bad Fur Day, the xbox version is simply a remake with tacked on multiplayer not a sequel in any way.
Shadow Of The Colossus. I doubt the creators of that game still planning to make a sequel.Orasion_Seiz
Oddworld STranger's WrathHiResDesThat is part of the Oddworld series, which means it doesn't fit the author's criteria. Okami is a great choice, and Planescape: Torment is an awesome choice. I am going to throw out a few that I didn't see mentioned: American McGee's Alice (Oz was canceled, and Scrapland, Bad Day LA, and Grimm don't qualify in my book, because they aren't a series) Giants: Citizen Kabuto Sacrifice ICO (This is touchy, because you could make an argument that Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are a "series," since they are remotely related.) Eternal Darkness (though a sequel is always possible)
Kudos for a poll-type thread that's actually interesting. The fact that I had to think long and hard to find a few games that fit the criteria is kind of scary, to be honest. I would really like it if every damn IP under the sun wasn't considered a "franchise" even before the first game is out.
Anyhoo, I'd have to give my nod to Bully. It's no wonder that Rockstar is the only company that successfully managed to utilize the Grand Theft Auto formula in a game without GTA in its title. Not only that, but they delivered a wholly unique and refreshing experience.
Other notable mentions would be Okami, The Warriors, Shadow of the Colossus, Freedom Fighters, Gladius, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
Dead Rising. Although rumors of a sequel are always floating around.DarkElf2112Exactly what I was going to say.
I'll probably say this to my dying day but Psi-ops really deserved a sequel. I don't think any game has ever implemented psychic powers with as much skill or usability as this game did. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/psiops/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;read-reviewTrooperdx3117Yeah Psi-Ops is great. I still need to beat it. Tiger Hill is great.

The Warriors was incredible. I guess a sequel could be about who is going to be the next leader since Swan is fed up with gang life. This man is a GOD! lol I don't know why I didn't say Astro Boy: Omega Factor. It's the best hand held game of all time and probably no other game does a better job at combining gameplay and story elements.my vote goes to Astro Boy: Omega Factor by Sega and Treasure.

Some of my answers really depend on what your definition of "sequel" is. It could simply be the next game in the series, regardless of how the story or gameplay relates to the previous installment (compare Far Cry and Far Cry 2, the latter of which had no relation to the former); or it could be a few other things.
The two Golden Sun games, for instance, are technically two games. However, Golden Sun 2 is really Part 2 of the Golden Sun story--the story was incomplete at the end of the first game. From what I've read, I get the impression that were it not for, I guess, the limitations of the cartridge format, there would have only been one Golden Sun game. If we think of that "series" this way, I would say that Golden Sun really needs a sequel. Those games were superb.
And a definite answer to your question would be Okami. I love it! Poor Clover Studios. Poor fans.
Shadowrun for the Sega Genesis. Wow, that game was so awesome. That game is still awesome.
The Shadowrun FPS failure doesn't count as a sequel.

Indeed it doesn't. Had Microsoft not shoehorned FPS controls into it, we would be seeing the precursor to the RPG salvation of the X360.
RPG's don't work on an Xbox they said...we couldn't even get Japan with a Shin Megami Tensei game they exclaimed...oh how the tables have turned.

I have yet to play a handheld RPG that beats Golden Sun for me. I've played through those games countless of times, and my friends and I have debated where the story could go in a sequel. This is a def gem they need to look back on haha. Thanks for the nostaglia moment :)

My bad, never played any of 'em.
I would love to see another Psychonauts. I loved the style and humor of it. And plus who doesn't want to make squirrels explode.:DakiraxanderIndeed. This is definitely my choice. Psychonauts took all the psychic abilities we have seen before and put it in a unique platformer/adventure title. Your levels are not just places, they are the inside of people's minds! Who does that? Absolutely original. It is also one of the funniest games I have ever played. The dialogue was amazing. Making squirrels explode is awesome, but who could forget the weirdness of the Milkman level?
