Stretch Panic. Or that platformer by Treasure that wasn't Wario World.
Alien Hominid, which at this point should be so cheap I would recommend it to anyone who likes 2D shooters.
Can I still say Psychonauts? I shouldn't have to, because anyone who read the forums should have heard the hype.
Beyond good and Evil is a sleeper hit.SEEN187
not really. everywhere i look, everyone is recommending that game.
Hmm let me look through my list....

I opened this thread to mention that game. I had no idea that some one would beat me to it :) That game was so weird but very fun. There are a couple shooters that were awesome but nobody heard and/or played them. Those are Sky Gunner, Silpheed: The lost planet, and R-Type Final
Heavenly Guardian came out just a bit ago, Red Star. and Grim Grimoire are the few that I can think of that don't really have much of a cult following either. Grim Grimoire maybe a bit but the others I never really see anyone talk about.
There are other games like AR Tonelico, Odin Sphere, YS, and various others that weren't ever huge when they came out but there are enough people around that know and talk about them.

Red Star ive been wanting to play that is it any good?
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System - (Seriously, this game is just fantastic)
Ico
Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2)
Rogue Galaxy
Psychonauts
Killer 7 (Best videogame ending ever, even over MGS3 and SotC)
Rune: Viking WarlordWarr_Knight
Rune kicks ass! That was my first PS2 game and I just loved it. It got ripped apart in the review category but at that time I didn't even read the reviews, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. The combat was so much fun and I just loved beheading and dismembering countless enemies. Sure, the loading times sucked and some of the levels were just awful, but all in all it was a great game. I still play it to this day....on my PS3!
I think the most recent one that comes to mind is Grim Grimoire.

I have that game. I played it for about 2-3 hours and then I just could not get back into it. I might give it a shot again some day.

I want Sky Gunner so bad. I remember renting this and thinking to myself "Self, this game is exactly like Star Fox, I wish i had a Gamecube to play it on" Then when I got my Wii and rented Star Fox:Assault i thought to myself "Self, remember that game by Atlus that was infintely better? I want that one and not this garbage" Too bad every time i look, I only find Sky Odessey. Oh well..looks like it's 1:1 right now
Gitaroo Man, Buy it
I heard that Okami didn't sell very well and the game is considered excellent.Thiago26792I gave it a 9.

I love it, its sort of like mixing arcade versions of a beat em up game with contra, its pretty different from most games today.
I might get it if its cheap.
Rule of Rose.
Give it a try. Seriously
I know, all the flaws that IGN, Gamespot and whatever site mentioned are true.
But what the hell! RoR have its own merits as well.
The atmosphere is everything.
If you're a writer or you like to draw often Rule Of Rose is there for you, because it's really good for inspiration. Great stuff
That game really makes me feel some kind of old school games aura, when the games demanded imagination for your part.
Like I said, it's quite the experience if you let the Rule's proposal get you.
Don't forget this game :D
"Maximo". Most people don't know that it's the sequel to Super Ghouls N' Ghosts / Ghosts N' Goblins.
Ys: The Arc Of Napishtim
(BTW, I own Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, and Rogue Galaxy, and RG is still my fav)

I saw a ton of used copies of Dark Cloud at Gamestop yesterday.
Okami did horrible saleswise for some reason, but it's an amazing game and I think it's definetly in the top 10 best PS2 games of all time.
Dark Cloud series - another fantastic series that should have been more popular
