Ha ha I guess.. I'm sure I'll get a second slapping for this though, but aren't they all kinda the same..? I've never played one but it seems to me they're just sandbox games with a little story thrown in, so is there a point buying two sandboxes.. Or is my perception completely false?

GTA3 for its day was mind blowing - however that was years ago now, and in the two sequals that followed, it was improved upon massivly. I loved GTA3, however after GTA:SA i couldn't go back to it. If you intend to get all 3 (which i would strongly recomend) go for this one first - imo it has the coolest city of pretty much any sandbox game to date and some really memorable moments. Chatterbox is also the best radio station EVER (including real life). Vice city is really fun and probably has the strongest story (think scarface parody) and most vibrant art direction (again, tacky 80's ftw!) and Vice city has some really nice areas too. Also, Vice City has some really fun property based jobs, which were for some reason scaled back in SA

If you're only gonna get one though, it has to be SA imo. In terms of scale it dwarfes the other two (3 cities, a mountain, redneck forests AND a desert), it has Samuel Jackson in it, planes take on a whole new level, there are multyplayer elements, character customisation takes on a whole new level (u can be fat, skinny, buff, whatever), you can swim and has gang turf wars...Some people felt there was too much to do in this game and that it thus lost focus however these people are wrong imo.

But yeah, as has been said - get all three - they are gaming histroy, and amongst the best games of the last generation, if not ever, and i'm sure u can get them really cheap in decent condition

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, this is exactly what I needed. I'll definitely get San Andreas then, thanks!

Yes, I would definitely agree. Get San Andreas. Since they're all over 5 years old, it's best to go with the newest one, because in truth, it has the best features, customization, and playtime. Vice City and III good games, great actually, but I think SA outshines 'em all. Have fun, man!

For the love of god. They are all dirt cheap. And yes they all have unique stories. The mechanics varry from one to another also. The most important thing you get from playing all of a series is PERCEPTION. You can be like well 3 had this, and VC had that, and SA had that too and then here is 4 that doesnt have any of that crap and thats why its the crappiest one to date.

San Andreas is the best of the three but you might as well just buy all of them since you can probably grab 3 and Vice City for only a few bucks each.

From those three, Vice City is the best.

Economicly,if you are in america and are getting it for PS2 you should get all three. You can get the Trilogy package with all three games unopened collectors pack for $30 dollars. And once you have played alll three you will realise you cannot just get by with one.

Get either III or VC.

San Andreas was by far the worst of the 3.

If I had to choose 1, I thin GTA III is the best.

GTA III was my favorite because it started it all. So i voted for GTA3, but I know San Andreas game was superior. It is just that the third game is the one that started it all.

*glares at your avvy, but...*I never played GTA3, and Vice City's good, but San Andreas is a LOT better IMO, so I'd go with that.

I would strongly recomend GTA: SA because it is such a larger game and the characters are really well done! Who else cared about what happened to our friend Carl Johnson?

IMO- Vice City was the funnest to play but you can't beat the expansive sandbox that is SA. I think you did right in getting SA though when I get around to re owning them it will Vice City first on my list. Go 80's. *puts on leg warmers*

GTA3 had the biggest "wow" factor. Overall I'd say I had the most fun with GTA3. But that's obviously mainly because it was the first of the next-gen GTA titles. But in terms of which game is the best (from a technical & gameplay point of view), I'd go with SA. I love the map. It's huge and and offers unlimited potential for insane rampages. Vice City gets credit for introducing motor cycles, but its layout and city design wasn't my favourite. The world was too flat. SA offers all kinds of ramps and mountainous terrain. Additionally, SA offers the best sense of speed (the motion blur helps). Jolting down the road in a Banshee with turbo, or plowing through the grass while dodging trees in a Cheetah (also with turbo) really gets the adrenaline going. I also like how much break-away terrain SA has (though Chinatown Wars wins in this area). I can always play SA with a few cheats activated and have a blast.

What an obscure debate, this is too hard. But, San Andreas is the obvious choice because of it's huge environment and polish graphics. *Clicks "Vote San Andreas."* *Views Results* Yep, San Andreas.

SA had a ridiculous amount of silly mini games that held up the story and made it frustrating to play at times, I think Vice City was a maasive improvement on GTA III and a lot nicer to play than SA, espcecially if you've not played a GTA game before.
