I think you mean scapegoating videogames instead of facing importance socio-economic issues which cause crime in the first place.

My friend told me about an incident involving a paranoid schizophrenic.

He was left alone at home one day and was listening to Meatloaf.

A lyric in the song he was listening to said something along the lines of 'Burn down your house', so, being a schizo, he did.

Not his fault really, or the song's. But his condition's fault.

Just shows it isn't the source material, it is the condition of the person causing the incident.

I love how they make sure that even grown adults can't buy the game because of what some stupid kid did.

Blaming games is the less known, and therefore less deniable, alternative to pleading insanity. For example, a murderer pleads insanity when charged with murder. When a suspect blames games, he turns the attention away from his actions to the effect of games on people's minds.
