Ajax Magazine has the press release detailing the next GTA4 DLC...

Grand Theft Auto IV's second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City delivers two games on one disc - the all-new episode The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first episode, The Lost and Damned - together on disc for the first time - for Xbox 360 for $39.99 and will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on Xbox LIVE this fall for $19.99 or 1600 MS points and requires players to have Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download.

Rockstar Press Release

I can't wait to see where this goes. The Lost and the Damned was fantastic.

I wonder how many people will not download this because of the title alone?

It will be interesting to see. I'm predicting we might even get to hear from some of those people in this thread.

can someone remind me who Gay Tony was again? Name sounds familiar....was it something to do with Ray's diamonds? I honestly can't remember.

He was the guy you handed Gracie Ancelotti over to in exchange for the diamonds.

Cool. I still need to grab The Lost and Damned so at this point I may as well wait until this dlc hits and get them both at once on disk.

Wow, so it is Luis Lopez as what others assumed with the "Impossible Trinity" with Johnny and Niko. The title and theme is something I wouldn't have expected, but I really want to know more on what it's about other than having Gay Tony being a certain focus on this.

Why would the title cause someone not to download the game? It doesn't sound like it is glorifying homosexuals. In fact, it sounds a bit like it's going to be making fun of them with extreme stereotypes as all GTAs have.

It's obvious from the title that they are attempting to turn heads in the same cheap manner as a "shock" jock radio. In similar fashion to the way GTA has always tried to get attention.

The most interesting part of this title is to see just how many message board policies it is going to have to break as most do not allow the word gay.

Not much to say really. It's from Rockstar, and it's gonna be built on GTA4 stuff, so yeah. Not much more to say other than this is assumed awesome until proven otherwise.

What an awesome logo, pure brilliance. The retail package is such a great thing. Now whenever I get a 360 i can just buy the expansions and not worry about buying the full game just to play them. Why can't more companies be this smart.dvader654

Agreed on both points. It's a totally awesome logo. I'm also happy to see a retail release because I think this means it'll be on PC as well - probably sometime next year. If not, I can just grab the 360 release.

Well, to be fair, I think they can do it because the game is so huge, both in sales and content. I don't think smaller games can release their marginal DLC on a disc.

However, I wish there was some way I could get the disc and a discount since I already bought the first episode.

They could release it as part of a GOTY/Gold edition.

Yeah, actually the more I think about it, the better that sounds. Like Marvel Ultimate Alliance did. I bought the Gold edition for $5 more and got the $10 DLC with it. It seems great for consumers at least, but I wonderwhy more companies don't do it.

I suppose the whole post-release support concept is still rather new for consoles so most companies haven't really figured out all avenues. On PC, almost every game has some sort of a GOTY/Gold/Complete/whatever re-release, but then again, expansions and post-release support are an integral part of PC gaming that's been around since forever.

Yeah, PC games even got rereleases of content you couldn't download. Like Thief is one of my favorite games, but way back I could just never bring myself to rebuy a game I already had for a few new levels. That being said, just thinking about this reminded me, and i just ordered it off amazon, so...

But yeah, I really like having both options. Call of Duty 4 and Left4Dead both did that at retail, which was great. I could also imagine Sony could keep the Warhawk community going awesome by putting out a disc with all the new content on it, though they already have a bundle price for downloading it, which is okay too.

For me, I don't download mods for games like Grand Theft Auto, especially IV. It's already enough alone.

This isn't really a mod, though. It's an expansion pack/alternate game. Heck, it's already been pointed out that you don't even need to own the game to use these expansions if you wait to buy them on disc later on this year.

When I played GTA4, I thought Brucie and the Irish brothers were shoe-ins for DLC. I barely remember the bikers or Tony. Still, by all accounts the first DLC was incredible, so I'm sure this will be to.

Moving on, having someone who lives an alternative lifestyle star in an episode of GTA is a really bold move on Rockstar's part. I'll never play this game, but it will be interesting to read the reactions to it.

Awesome! I still need to play the first expansion but if there's one company in the business that can pull off a game based on a gay character it's definitely Rockstar.

GTA IV is on my list of games to play this summer, so I can't comment on this too much, but I think the Gay Tony" themed game is a bold move. If anyone has the power to pull of a gay character being the star of a game, it's Rockstar. We'll see how they treat it, though.

i wonder if this means more digital penises in cutscenes. my gf's sisters were over when i ran into the Land theD cutscene with a penis and i quickly got a "what the hell are you playing" "GTA IV" "I don't remember any ^&*(& in GTA IV." "This is the expansion." "Yeah right..." :(

Only in topic titles, because it was being used as an insult or in some derogatory mannerin topic titles more often than it was being used appropriately.
