Guess who's directing WoW movie...Is that Evil Dead and Spider-Man in my WoW?

Yup, to those who got my hint in the topic title, Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man, and Drag Me To Hell) will be directing World of Warcraft movie.

Well, you might. Who knows. But according to movie news site Ain't It Cool, the director has been confirmed — and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Ain't It Cool is reporting that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the film version of WoW. "It [the announcement] will come out in trades later this week or next," writes Ain't It Cool. "But you can take this one to the bank."

My take? Well, although Sam Raimi has his hits and misses (Spider-Man 2 HIT, Spider-Man 3 TERRIBLE!!!), at least a established, well-known veteran director is directing WoW instead of some no-name filmmaker or bad directors.

The movie is based off World of Warcraft? Not Warcraft 1-2-3?

Oh man :( The lore of Warcraft is what is so epic, but WoW has screwed it all up. For good reason at least as it seems the only way to let the game progress forward each expansion, but still. I want it based off the actual lore, not WoW lore.

If its still the same movie they were talking about a couple years ago, then it is suppose to tell the story between Warcraft 3 and WOW.

I'm really looking forward to it, and its outcome. Nice that they got a good director, though at least. However, I hope it is NOT based on the current game which is a complete screw up.

This group of 40 people go in and kill every boss that was actually killed off by a significant character in Warcraft lore, then 15 of them die, and they all fight eachother in small arenas.

Isn't he dirceting Spider-Man(2011) and a Disney(2010) movie first?

If its based off of WoW, that was the first bad choice. Can I get some Warcraft RTS love here?

WoW is much more a cultural phenomenom than the RTS series ever was. So much so it has become a part of pop culture expanding beyond the realms of a simple video game into the mass market. It makes much more sense to use that as a spring board than the RTS games. As for the story it will be interesting to see, although I think most people would have loved to see a retelling of the rise and fall of Arthas.

That being saidGamesIndustryhas a better list of who is involved, and from the looks of it Blizzard isn't relinquishing too much control. While I really like Evil Dead series, I can't say I enjoyed Spider Man much beyond the first one (just too Holywood for me). Whatever happens though can't wait to see this project move forward and glad to know its not dead.

Cool. I think that's great news. I loved the Evil Dead and Spider-man movies so I'm really looking forward to seeing what he'll do with WoW.

Well, aside from Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi is the best guy to make WoW. I'll have to see a trailer for something before I can get excited about this though.
