Well.

Im very disappointted with the review GS has given the newest installment from activision. Here is why:

1. The game came out TWO weeks ago. isint that a little too long to wait, considering my local newspaper had the review in before, and thats only one person doing all the game reviewing.

2. When they claim to have spent a week and a half "reviewing" the game, how the hell do they manage to put out less than a full page of a review?'

3. They claimed it to be a rockband clone, i say hardly, the games are very different. even a fool knows that. Saying WT copied rockband is near saying rockband copied guitar hero! which they didnt! harmonix made GH 1 & 2!

4. The music studio is too "complicated", yeahhhh, no. Three hours of use one night and i have it mastered. And im someone thats never been around that kind of stuff, not even garageband or something. All it takes is patience and common sense.

5. And finally the instruments. I have had 0 problems with anything. with one exception.I didnt plug the hi-hat in completley the first time, which registered in a failure, one push and everything has been solid since. The touchstrip is a nice feature to show off or just try something different, after all, its not mandatory. the drums and bass guitar are wayyy more realistic, and alot more difficult. I like.

So, im not complaining about gamespot, i just think the review could be alot better, not just in the score, but in the presentation. oh and please be kind mods. NOW what are your thoughts about the game, and the review aswell?

Ya it's stupid that they review this 2 weeks after release and yet today a Gears 2 review came out and that doesn't come out for another 1 or 2 weeks.

GOW2 comes out in 3days actually friday Nov 7... and actually i dont not if its all over the country but here they are releasing it thrusday at midnight. Anyway not the point, just dont want anyone to miss their chance to grab.

Yea i cant believe the review was so delayed. I havent yet played it but from what i heard, way different than rock band.

Im very excited to play this, funny when i finished legends of rock (unlocked all levels and bonus songs) my brother and i thought.... BYOB by system of a down should really be on here, as well as sum sort of tool song. Low and behold GH world tour has BYOB and not one but THREE tool songs. awesome i cant wait to get this its definitly on my birthday/xmas list

=)

The reviewer revealed on System Wars that the reason why the review was delayed was because he caught the flu.

I've played both and World Tour definitely has a scent of inferiority among it.

The reviews aren't lying ... GH4:WT just isn't as good of a game as Rock Band 2.

Honestly, GH4:WT just isn't as good of a game as the original Rock Band. They failed at at even making a Rock Band clone.

I don't understand your #3. Why is GH:WT not an obvious Rock Band clone? It sure seems too similar to be a coincidence to me.

I'll give anyone a cookie if they can explain to me exactly how GH:WT is "way different" from Rock Band. I haven't actually played it yet, so maybe I'm missing something, but from what I've gathered GH:WT is more similar to Rock Band than the Final Fantasy games are to each other. Which is saying a lot.

As much as I loved the previous GH games I have to agree with Dire here. I bought World tour, played through it, and it is a failed Rock Band clone on every level. Rock Band is the definitive experience for a music game at the moment it has better graphics, better animation, better overall production values, one hell of a lot more songs, more reliable and better instruments, a better laid out single player career, etc. etc. World tour has some fun songs and was a justifiable purchase for me considering Im such a sucker for anything music game related but it falls short in every possible way. Oh and the much touted music creator is one of the most confusing and annoying features ive ever seen in a game. The game as it stands is still decent but id reccomend waiting for a price drop next year sometime. Now Guitar Hero Metallica.... hello there good lookin! ;)

That shouldn't be good enough. Having the flu only keeps you cooped up inside, doesn't delay you from doing other things like writing reviews. And the flu for two weeks?

if the reviewer really had the flu, then i'll give him/her a pass for this one, and even then, why do you guys still keep on insisting on gamespot's reviews as the end-all-be-all for gaming opinions? does your computer restrict access to other sites like ign, 1up and gametrailers?

Yeah, the game really isn't much fun at all. They have all the pieces needed to make a band game, but it doesn't really work. There's just something missing - the whole experience is very sterile and you're always aware you're playing a videogame.

Also, it doesn't really affect the rest of the game, but the main menu looks like it should be part of a budget XBLA title.

And the intro is nothing short of terrible.

How would you guys rate World Tour as just another GH extension? By that, I just mean as the same old Guitar Hero with just the Guitar controller and playing through the song list, and forget all the other instruments and features.

Or maybe the easier way to ask the question is, since I liked Guitar Hero III, would I still enjoy this?

I've had the flu three times, it changes so much of your life that I don't blame the reviewer. I mean, your stomach rejects everything you eat, your throat is awful, and the cough...dead God, the cough.

Yep I think you would. I played through it just as another GH game and didnt get the instruments or whatever. You can play it using one of your older controllers and have a decent time. If you like GH games in general then theres a lot of fun songs on here. Though id reccomend Rock Band 2 for the same purposes ahead of this one.

Let's just say I am pretty sick of music-based games. I wish there wasn't a new Guitar Hero, or Rock Band installment every year.

In this instance, you would probably like it. If you just played guitar, it would be hard to notice differences.

It "feels" exactly the same as prior GH games... Beat some songs, move to the next venue, rinse, repeat. This is the weakest aspect of the game, in my opinion. Rock band has you hiring roadies, winning buses, traveling the world, etc. Guitar hero just has some posters on a wall.

I must say, the hardware is far better than RB, though. The guitar is well made, and sharp looking, and the drums are much more like my real kit.

In the end, I'm glad I bought it because I'm going to use the MIDI input on the drumset to attach to my VDrums, but I would recommend Rock Band 2 for a more fun, party-inducing experience

Odd considering that almost every one else is in agreement that Rock Band's premium drums are the best ever made for a music based game.
