I just finished playing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II with my boyfriend, and I'm so bummed that it's over. :( We've played through the first and the second, and it doesn't look like they're coming out with a 3rd.

I've read that Gauntlet Dark Legacy is comparable, but I really the Dungeon/Dark look, and Gauntlet seems so bright and cheery, almost playful.

So... any 2-player H&S games with some character customization comparable to BG:DA2? I do have a PS3 and Xbox 360 but I prefer the look of the 'Legacy' H&S. I'm open to anything! Thanks.

I would recommend LOTR Return of the King for that genre. It's a great hack and slash and there is nothing like killing a bunch of orcs. You can upgrade your character but it doesn't feature any real customization. Fable III may also be worth a look. For me it was no where near as good as the first two but it has customization options and I know you can do local multiplayer.

@Kaszilla-- I'll try them both out, thanks!

@TheColbert-- Fable 2 is probably my favorite in the series. Fable 3 is good though too. I'm going to try out that LOTR game. Which console is it on?

Look up all the "Champions of Norath" games (PS2 or XB), same engine as "Baldur" and all the same mechanics and such, the legacy series of "Baldur" (which I LOVED TOO!!! So trust me, I feel your pain at the end of BGII:DA, iwas crushed after that game ended - Norath to the rescue!)

There are several titles in the series, should keep you and the boyfriend busy until Spring!

Definetly this. Champions of Norrath, and it's like-minded sequel Champions: Return to Arms is very similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance in gameplay. It is a tad more challenging, but not so much so that you'll get frustrated. Otherwise it's very similar: dungeon-crawling, gearing up your character, hack-n-slash action, treasure-hunting, leveling-up your character, tons of monsters, clueless NPCs, etc. Both games are exclusive to PS2.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes is another hack-n-slash dungeon crawler. This time it's exclusive to the XBox. Very similar in gameplay type as the already mentioned games. But the graphics and sound take a little bit of hit. I'd call it a budget-title. But these "budget-cuts" are easily overlooked as the gameplay is still just as satisfying.

Otagi for the xbox.Kaszilla
I have that, never got into it though. Not as much customization but Dynasty Warriors is a great multiplayer Hack n' Slash, and I agree with Chapions of Norrath

I'll also recommend the Champions games and to a lesser extent D&D: Heroes. For a change of scenery you should also check out X-men Legends I & II. It's a hack and slash RPG like Baldur's Gate: DA and Champions but instead of "swords and sorcery" you have mutant powers.

Most of the good ones have already been mentioned, but here are some others - Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, Lego Star Wars/Batman/Indy etc series, Dyntasy Warrior/Samurai Warrior/Orochi series, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Justice League Heroes, Aliem Hominid (technically counts), The Warriors, Hunter The Reckoning, and finally, Tak The Great Juju Challenge.

Both have been said but I also vote for Champions of Norrath and LOTR Return of the King
