Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if any of you have any idea why the Spartans' (or Elites') arms flail when killed by an explosion, for example by a grenade, seeing as they'd probably be dead instantly. This "phenomenon" existed in Halo 1 and 2 and after watching some of the Halo 3 gameplay videos it seems it shall continue. To me it seems like something that should be fixed since it's quite unrealistic. What do you think?

Its called muscle reflex its actually very realistic. If u die sometimes your muscles will respond by tighting all the muscles in your body so it can happen that your finger will pull the trigger... its very theoritical but it can happen

hmm, I'm not quite sure if you understood what I was talking about...what I was referring to is when their arms move around in the air like you do when you swim (well, certain "strokes") when they fly in the air after being exploded by a grenade.

Yeah exactly! Now what's the deal with not fixing it already? This is the third Halo game, after all. Can't be that hard

Honestly I always found it fairly unrealistic.  You know, big armored "Spartans" fighting horrible aliens and space zombies on giant ring shaped world.

After that I just sort of let the rest slide.

;)

yeah, yeah, I know it's not that serious and it's not something I often complain of. Every once in a while, however, it does sort of annoy me since it's something that could probably be fixed easily and that could have been fixed back in Halo 2. Whatever! Too lazy to email Bungie about it:P

Well thanks for responding to my relatively unimportant thread:)

I had to act the dick on this topic, sorry.  But really I think it has more to do with the game being all action and as we often see in film people being "blown away" tends to be far from the real.  Mythbusters (Oh, Kari... KARI!!) had an episode which involved scenes from old westerns and people flying through windows at the whim of a magnum.  Just not true.

Then again Rainbow Six Vegas has some of this too, every now and then the rag-doll system will utterly spaz out and the results are often funny.  Backwards summersaults, landing in mad positions on bits of scenery and in one or two cases on my screen getting stuck in the floor and slowly jiggling across the map.

I think it comes down to Halo being about the fast over the top action more than anything else.  I might not play Halo but I am aware Bungie are meticulous about detail.

Its like when your falling off a building (that happens alot, I know) and you flail your arms.  Actually I worded that wrong but thats what I think.
