Warning! My post is highly biased!

Many of the "rpg" games on the PSP and DS are Tactical RPGs, a genre that provides no entertainment to me whatsoever.

The RPGs on the DS don't even allow walking it seems (basing this on the Atlus game Etrian Odyssey).

There are absolutely ZERO free-world RPGs (think Skyrim) for handhelds, and that saddens me :(

Ever play any of the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS or Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core for PSP? None of those are tactical RPGs and in fact are action rpgs that give you direct control over the characters. Also Radiant Historia for the DS and Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure for the PSP look like 2 very good RPGs as well.

Just because you do not like them does not mmean that they are some of the worst RPG,

Free-world RPGs have their own problems with them.

I didn't like Crisis Core's combat. What was up with that slot-machine random crap during a battle :(

I speak for the DS, you are wrong.

The DS is filled with jrpgs (good ones at that), action rpgs and strategy rpgs. But I don't recall seeing any " wrpgs" (AKA rpgs) for the DS, thus it can't have the worst.

How are they the worst. At least you younger generations can play them on current handhelds and not on older systems.,

i think the Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku games were good open world RPGs for their time. Also DBZ Buu's Fury. Baulder's Gate as well

I disagree, I think the Devil Survivor games are fantastic. I haven't played Radiant Historia, but I heard it's really good.

Handhelds have some of the Best JRPGs on the market right now better than some that is on Current-Gen Game Consoles today even though Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 and Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360 are Great JRPGs in their own right,

Remember i said JRPG,handhelds don't have many western RPGs on the market or at least not any good ones that are noticeible right now.

As it stands now, if you like JRPGs, then handhelds are usually the way to go. It's strange, in a way, because it seems like companies that created amazing console JRPGs can't seem to create a great experience this gen. Too many JRPG developers are trying to appeal to the Western market and its making their games suck. Hence, they stick to handhelds so that they can create old school type RPGs.

I agree with you. I have not found any JRPGs since the PS2 generation to be great yet. Sad fact but I am going to handheld and actually back to playing my PS2 just so I can play a great JRPG again.

Lower budgets is the main reason for why most JRPG developers have moved to handhelds. Lower budgets is also the main reason why the Wii generally has better JRPGs than the PS360.

sorry? I think many of the remakes, especially on handhelds, easily rival some of the higher quality RPGs being released for this generation of consoles.
