Hardest game ever!

What do you guys think is the hardest game ever?

If im allowed to pull in a freeware game here, it's definately "I wanna be the guy".... that game.... damn... just damn!!

Now, amongst retail games, Ninja Gaiden is probably the most difficult game in my collection.

I'd say

Devil May Cry 3 was pretty damn hard and frustrating and it didn't help that when you die you have to start the mission from the beginning, even if you were about to beat that mission.

Back to the Future on NES without any cheats.

Actually...there's a TON of old NES games that are pretty much IMPOSSIBLE without using cheats....and even some with cheats.

The hardest game I got is Contra 4. I also have Ikaruga, and Ninja Gaiden, but Contra 4 is hard as ****.

I may have not been the 1337est of 1337, or the one with the most expensive gear in Final Fantasy XI, but I didn't think it was that hard if you're willing to put the time into it. I quit 4 years ago because I got tired of it, but the hardest thing about the game was probably trying not to get aggro in those end game stages.

What was so hard about it?

Burai Fighter for the NES. That name still generates nightmares.

Grrr why do people always say that! I Wanna Be The Guy isn't even one of the hardest games ever made! Not even close. Not even in the top 100. Probably not the top 1000. Seriously, how long have you been gaming? I was able to complete the game. Nuff said. It cant be that hard I was able to complete it. I cant say that for a countless amount of other games because of their difficulty. Hell I've been able to complete IWBTG multiple times on various difficulty settings. Impossible mode is the only difficulty I haven't done it on.

IWBTG on impossible mode is possibly the hardest game ever, but I'm just gonna laugh at the notion of IWBTG being considered one of the hardest games ever on any other difficulty.

I'll have to say Super Monkey Ball on expert or impossible mode...be prepared to throw your controller at the TV.

There's plenty of games from the n.e.s. era which are pretty much impossible to beat due to poor game design.

Shinobi for the PS2 i couldn't finish it, it was so damn frustrating.

FFX 1 is tough as heck. It seems like if I mess up in any part of the game I doom myself some how. Maybe I'm just terrible at it. I have it on my phone now, so I might give it a try again in the future.

Castlevania III without the "HELP ME" code. Even with that code that last two levels are insane.

Zelda II. and not for the right reasons. (Then again many NES games weren't hard for the right reasons T_T)

Fire Emblem Radiant dawn was pretty difficult even on it's normal mode.

Battletoads on NES.

Holy **** was that hard. Awesome game though. I never got past the part when you have to fly.

I never got past the water temple in Majoras Mask, I couldn't even find the Zora singer's eggs.

Now that I think of it, STALKER: Clear Sky is probably the hardest game I've finished this gen, and one of the hardest FPSs out there.
